I can't remember, Bioshock's actually street-dated, right?
I know everywhere says August 21st, and for games that are not street-dated, that's the shipping date, but if it is street-dated, it actually means we'll get it on the 21st.
Yeah it's possible. Gamestop.com has a thing where if you pre-order from them, they guarantee delivery on the 21st. So it's possible that the 21st is indeed the street date and not actually the ship date. Given how hard they're pushing the 21st/24th dates in interviews and such, I'm inclined to think that's the case.
That doesn't make the wait any easier on me.

I wouldn't trust game stop at all, I've done the "Guarantee on game day delivery" for two games now and both have come a week after the game came out."

Hmm, well that really sucks, I'm sorry to hear that! I have my Bioshock goodness pre-ordered at a Brick and Mortar, so I'm not too worried about it, I was just trying to sort through all the street date speculation and such. What games did they screw you on?

If I had more money I would totally collect faceplates. Some (like this one) are really nice designs.
You know they had this thing at best buy for a while where you could just make a custom faceplate. You send what you want the faceplate to look like into some company and they manufacture it for you.
I'd rather have a faceplate or something than a big daddy figurine. As cool as the figurine is, it'll probably just sit around reminding me of my nerdiness, or find itself in a pile of shame along with a figurine from Tiberium Sun.

So man, I'm hyped. Totally, totally hyped. Even moreso than I was before, which was already a significant amount of hype. Almost three years of waiting and I can almost smell those intangible bits of code served up on an overpriced piece of pressed plastic and reflective material. Wooeeooo...!
You know what the real bummer is? That this fucker isn't being served up on Steam. I want to be able to preload this sumbitch, spend the next three weeks ogling and drooling over several gigabytes of data on the hard disk, and pee my goddamned pants the minute it's unlocked. Then proceed to get fired from my job for not showing up the next several days. Oh yeah.

Hi5 The same thing happened with me too. Mainly because e(as odd as it sounds) no one in the store I reserved it at has a 360. so when i went to put another $10 on Bioshock they game it to me. I plan to have it on the 360 the whole time I am playing.
I accidently found out the release date.
This is not good.
My anticipation was much easier to control when I had no idea when Bioschock would arrive.
Oh lordy. Lordy it hurts.

yeah, i predict august and september to be the longest months on record, with their endings being capped by the launch of Bioshock and Halo 3 respectively.
Agony ahoy.

Nah man, we just gotta get through the next three weeks then it's actually a constant stream of good games until December. The wait for Halo 3 wont be bad because we'll be playing Bioshock, Blue Dragon, and Metroid Prime 3.
It would be pretty awesome if they had an update that lets you use a KBAM setup on the 360. It's not like this is a multiplayer game, so the "unfair advantage" aspect is gone. I have no idea why this isn't standard.
my fear is that my PC cant run it... but im terrible at console FPS.
See, this is my dilemma: Buy/build an expensive PC and get Bioshock for it, on which I will probably have no problems; or buy a relatively inexpensive 360, but most likely hate the game the entire way through due to shitty console FPS controls.
Besides, there's not exactly a whole lot of 360 games that've caught my interest. Essentially the only one that isn't also a PC title is RE5. (Well, maybe that'll be a PC title too, but if RE4's PC version is any indication, it won't be worth getting.)
but most likely hate the game the entire way through due to shitty console FPS controls
Dude, honestly--and I'm not trying to derail the thread here--but that is all in your head.
Console controls are just as good these days. I know this to be true because I played FPS games exclusively on the PC, starting with the originals: Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem and Doom and going up through Quake, the first Dark Forces, and Alien vs. Predator. I was a dedicated, hardcore PC FPS gamer for about a decade.
I had to bail on PC gaming because it just got too expensive for me and I switched over to the N64/Dreamcast, then Xbox. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark felt fine on the N64 and Bungie nailed FPS controls with Halo. Since Halo, console FPS controls have been just fine. I haven't played Shadowrun, but I keep hearing again and again that you can't tell the difference between the console and the PC gamers.
You just have to get used to the console controls--it's not that they're shitty, just different. And since BioShock isn't going to have an MP component, competitive gaming won't be an issue.
C'mon, all the cool kids are doing it. ;-)

I dont know what you people are bitching about. Xbox controllers (both this gen and last gen) are practically made with FPS games in mind. Console FPS controls are perfectly fine these days.
Now Console RTS games... thats a whole nother story.
Now, now, now. Just because the game doesn't have multiplayer doesn't mean adapting to console FPS controls isn't going to be difficult. Cf. my brother playing Call of Cthulhu: DCotC on the original Xbox. He would get so frustrated at certain stealth parts, while replaying it on a PC would be a breeze relatively.
Personally, I'm getting it on the 360 just because I want to play it in beautiful 50 inch widescreen HD instead of relatively pretty 20 inch widescreen HD. It's going to be a learning experience for me as well, as I do most of my non-adventure gaming on a PC.

Console controls are just as good these days. I
No, they aren't.
And even if they were, years of attempting off and on to acclimate myself to them have proven entirely fruitless, so they might as well not be. Nowhere was this more clear to me than when I played Invisible War a couple months ago; the only reason I beat the damn game is by upgrading the Healing biomod to maximum. Every damn firefight was an exercise in me getting shot over and over because it's impossible to both move and shoot accurately with analog sticks, or as near as impossible as makes no difference to me.
The only FPSes which I have found which the controls are even passable are ones that were made specifically for consoles, like TimeSplitters and Metroid Prime, and even those I have a lot of trouble with (especially TimeSplitters).
And I pretty much stopped playing multiplayer games in about 2003, so that's not even an issue.
I'd prefer to play this with mouse and keyboard but since I can't afford to upgrade my PC yet I'll simply have to resign myself to use a 360 gamepad instead.

Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe you just fucking suck at playing them?
I expect the EGM review to be pretty damn high. Possibly 10 high.
When Shoe posted the WOW thread on boards.1up he was under embargo for his Bioshock review as he mentioned in another thread, he cant speak of the quality of the game as another magazine has an exclusive review. Obviously the WOW thread was aimed at Bioshock I think.

It tastes like electrified acidic blood. Eew.
Preordered my copy of the Collector's Edition today.
and my manager hooked me up today.
He gave me the LE Bioshock Faceplate that they sent to the managers.
The box also had a Lanyard for Bioshock and a code for an exclusive Bioshock theme download on XBL.
I don't know why, I'm just so happy. :P
Pics please!
No, no pics! Do not feed my jealousy!
Suckers are going for $70-$100 now. If it werent for my love of limited edition goodies, mine would probably be going on sale.

If gamepads had an analog stick and a trackball, I'd probably do great with them.
