So guys, is there still a chance to get in on this? Or is it dying out.
At this point, it's more of a question of whether we have room for you. We're already maxed out on true citizens as far as I know, but we can probably squeeze you in as long as you keep your head down and work for less than minimum wage.
Are there perhaps people who are inactive who can be booted for me?

Yea this game is still going strong. The forums slowed down a bit because we use in game IRC for a lot of the communicating. Theres no shortage of fun to be had though, we have one of the best looking villages I've seen so far, it doesn't look cookie cutter at all. heck we even have people making subdivisions outside the town borders.
I figure by the time i actually successfully make it to the town the game will have long been abandoned and all i'll find is a few broken down buildings and hordes of scorpions
I'm going for another shot at getting to the village. My goal once I get there is to build a small outpost outside of town to help flag people in.
If you can build something deep in the woods south of the village, we'll probably love you for it. The more landmarks, the better. Might be a bit risky, though, especially if you can't get citizenship.

Heck, we haven't posted a single word about all the road work done through the south woods to the Dirt Field.
Which, from what I gather from the furious discussion last night, now goes straight south from our new 'entrance', up a hill past a couple people's big outside plots, turns 20 tiles east, and then runs straight south down to the dirt field, which in turn has short paths connecting to the east and west lake (the later of which is not, in fact, Sanctum's but is one further north and I or several others had thought. Hooray for no maps or portable compasses).
I helped connect the town to the south landmark, and did the best I could to make a perfectly straight road between them, but the currently-developed situation is a good compromise considering what's been built south of town.
I mean seriously guys, look at the Imageshack world map; we have a road running from that very north lake all the way down to the two lakes south. It is awesome just having worked on that.
I'd like to help build the path connecting the east lake and Rosewood next.
I figure by the time i actually successfully make it to the town the game will have long been abandoned and all i'll find is a few broken down buildings and hordes of scorpions
We'll probably have the entire route covered by roads before then. :P

Ok, better map using better info on the area, and what I've gathered is our road-making game plan:
Purple is what's already there, blue is the rough route the unbuilt valley trail takes to Rosewood's lake.
Steppes are east of Price is right. North of the lake, South of the forest. Just FYI.

SirCarcass, I don't really think it's fair to claim a house before getting here, but I know you were close. If you haven't arrived in a few days, I'm going to let someone else have 2e.

A diagonal road is going to be a pain in the ass to make as far as that map of the proposed road is concerned. we need to find a way to straight line it or make large stair steps. its gonna look VERY bad if we change direction every 10 tiles. I'm definitely down on working on the road too. so many commitments. Theres always something to do in this game. thats for sure.

True, but most of that route is right through a picturesque valley between two mountains, and doesn't need much more than its trees cleared. If we packed a wide path like this:
XXX
XXX
XXX
XXX
XXX
It might look good. Just a thought off the top of my head, to get the ball rolling.
Bigger issue is just how steep the last leg of it is on the bank of the East Lake.

That's fine. I'm somewhere between Sanctum's lake and the west lake. I'm down to like 60% health, though.

I will be spending most of my time trying to settle (chop trees, pack dirt) the blue path (through the valley) as it is the only leg of the journey to Arcadia that is still pretty wild.

There's a lot of stone slabs to make I'd say. That or cutting down trees or working or wood planks for houses. And plenty of opportunities to dig and cut roads.
What happens if we drive straight south, is it impassable mountain side? could it be tamed, or at least reduce having to climb?
It is the Mountain. Either it or a subsequent one south of it can be seen from Rosewood.
My first two thoughts is we can either run a path from the dirt field along the west lake to the valley, clear some trees through the valley, and ensure there's at least a dirt path after that leading to Rosewood's lake. No fancy road just yet.
The other or simultaneous plan could be to scout a path from the far south end of the west lake to the east side of Sanctum's lake, or sanctum itself. Just run someone down there and pack any grass along the way with a shovel.

There is no viable path from the west lake. It's looking like the east lake will be MUCH easier to make a path from, if we aren't going to tunnel straight through. "The valley" that Akinos found is extremely steep and turns back on itself, ending back in its own lake.
Well I almost made it to Arcadia, I was on the dirt path from the Sea Route, when I disconnected. I reconnected, but got a message saying "BALETED", then when I reconnected again I was dead. That's not really fair at all.
By the time some people make it we will be loading everything onto ships faster then elves in LOTR for an epic voyage to Wild.
We're not even close to that point, yet...
Tomorrow?
infinity takes over the town, goes mad with power and sends raiding parties over to Wild to conquer more land for him/her/it to rule by the end of the week, i'm calling it now

Sorry, I was seriously contemplating putting that in the post, but figured it wasn't necessary.

Also, can someone PM me the irc server info were using?
I searched the thread and didn't find a single reference to your name ingame.
Oh bah this is Arkis LOL
I posted some pics about the collapsed mine! Surely you could tell by the pixels!
No worries, I will suffocate arkis in the mine tonight when I get home for this.

Here is our current map:
Yes, 3 iron veins right next to each other.
We're either going to have to tunnel through it, or go around it to the east along the east lake shore. The west lake shore has no easy paths south.
There is no viable path from the west lake. It's looking like the east lake will be MUCH easier to make a path from, if we aren't going to tunnel straight through. "The valley" that Akinos found is extremely steep and turns back on itself, ending back in its own lake.
