Have I told about the time when I was the only one with a healing power in a group? Guess which power?
Guess if I actually got a hit when the bosses started mauling us... 4 fucking misses in a row and I was dead
Hate that. Hate. When I was leveling both my dark/darks (def and corr), I had to be very careful about mission difficulty and team makeup on PuGs. To avoid those situations where I was the only one with a heal and also the lowest on the team, or where the diff was cranked so high compared to the team there was no room for a miss. And the ones that wouldn't listen to me when I explained the problem. I left several PuGs because of that, and normally I am very PuG-tolerant.
But man, Twilight Grasp can save a team's collective ass when it hits. It's a great power.

In a group last night the leader bumped up the difficulty twice. This was fine for the most part (though the mayhem mission was a pain due to someone not waiting for the Longbow to come in the bank entrance, causing ~20 or so of the bastards to be in the entrance).
Then someone invites two 14s a few missions later after the group leader left. It seems that the game remembers mission difficulty, and naturally with those two 14s we were now fighting level 14s. I was level 11. Everything was either red or purple
It was also the first instance I've seen of anyone being insta-gibbed on a pull.
EDIT: Any suggestions for aiming with cone attacks? Obviously it's "target one and line 'em up" but I'm not sure how big the cone is compared to the visual effect of the attack.

What's the cone?
There isn't just one standard cone size. For example, Firebreath is a short range wide cone, but Nightfall is long range, narrow cone.
Normally, if I'm trying to do damage with a cone I'll pull a group towards me and run backwards until they clump up within range then hit the cone.
Then I generally wind up as a greasy hero shaped spot on the floor, but that's just me.
Other then that, try to target the middle of the mob.

Fire Breath is what I have now, and going by appearances it looks like a very narrow cone, so it's good to know that it is wider than it looks. Later I'll have Fearsome Stare as well.

I just took a closer look at my character planner and noticed that it has the arc of cone effects listed. Fire Breath is 30°, Terrifying Gaze is 45°, and Terrify is 90°.

Fearsome Stare is a huge cone. Like, hit half the room without even trying huge. Like, back up before you use it or you'll fear the next mob as well huge.
But once you get used to it, it's so fun. "Fear tanking" is about as exciting as life gets for a dark miasma def or corr. :P

I was just goofing around with the character designer, and with 3 confusion duration IOs and 2 recharge reductions in it you can get a 34s recharge and 58.8s duration.

The exception to that lime is fire/fire domination
absolutely unplayable by level 18
NAND has a fire/fire dom he plays for scheme night..seems to do alright.
I know, it's awesome when he hits Dom, uses an AoE control....and then dies because it was an immobilize.
Ha! This is true. There isn't much choice though. You get like, two AoE stuns that take forever to recharge (at best I get to use them once per set of mobs) a single hold and an AoE immobilize. It wouldn't be much of an issue, but the way we run I often find myself stuck with my crappier powers because the others haven't recharged yet. I don't mind playing it, but it doesn't really stack up at all against other sets. Have to work with what I have though I guess.
Oh, and I have Smoke too ... does that even do anything? It's supposedly an AoE To-Hit Debuff, and I always try to keep it going, but I've always wondered if it's ever made a real difference.

Smoke is only useful as like a second-layer to a stealth. Like stealth + smoke = run past a mob.
Anyone up for explaining the Rikti Invasion? I'm interested in what happens, not any of the lore stuff I have up on Paragon Wiki. Right now there is a bombing going on, and I just rolled another character to goof around with (also an excuse to play with the character creator some more ;-)).

Whenever someone beats the 4th Lady Grey TF mission, a random city gets invaded. There's 3 badges you can get for disarming (hitting til they blow up) bombs and killing troops/battlesuits. Get all 3 and win an accolade. There's a bombing phase followed by ground troops.
As an additional note, the Rikti teleport in response to how many heroes are in the area. If you're by yourself chances are you'll only see one to three at a time, and rarely bosses. If you manage to convince all the heroes in the zone to congregate in a single area the rikti will spawn in greater numbers with a higher instance of bosses and Elite bosses.

Generally, these are near the trainer/TF contacts.

There were quite a few 40+ heroes near the Arbiter/Quartermaster in Mercy (up the elevavtors near Mongoose). I don't give a shit about badges, but I just asked for a team so I could some quick experience :P
Last night/this morning was the first time I was ever in a group where more than half of the players RP. The guy who was leading (it started off as just him and I) went out of character maybe twice in the four or so hours I was in the team. Surprisingly he was a) a quick typer (much faster than me at any rate), and b) had amazingly good spelling and punctuation.

My wise build guides, I need your advice once more!
After sitting at 20 on my Spines/Regen for a while, I decided to pump him up.
He is now 22 and sits at a cross roads. I have four options.
1.) Build up. Is it even worth it on a spines as some of the animations are hilariously long?
2.)Resilience. Who cares about disorient since I have integrate. That Smash/Lethal/Tox is what I am interested in.
3.) Health. Compounds with other abilities.
4.)Stealth. Goes with SS stealth to make like totally invisible so I can rush to end of mishs and comp for super fast exp to get the other attacks I want?
As some NPCs say. I am in need of a hero!
AND FOR FUTURE REFERENCE EDIT: Uhm. Ripper and Throw Spines or whatever. Both cones. Do people take both or what?
Stealth is always a useful power, however, you can easily get stealth temp powers by doing patrols in pvp zones that should last you a while. Fitness is a waste for Regens. I'd go for Resilience.

Can I refuel my stealth temp powers an infinite number of times?
What does respec mean? I apparently have a free one for my old lvl 19 assault rifle/something (warmth resonance or something I think) and he is pretty sucky...
Does it like, give me a chance to pick new powers and/or enhancement slots?
I think you can do it 5 times, but it doesn't 'refill' the powers unless they're entirely used up or deleted. I know I screwed myself up by doing the Warburg patrol a couple times for easy xp and all of a sudden he wasn't offering it anymore.

Yeah. It takes you to this screen where you go level by level. its like doing a character builder, but only to where you character is. All your enhancements go into a pool that you can then spread out and place into powers. If you do not use some of them, they are sold.
So how are stalkers in PvE? I'm not really interested in PvP, but it seems like the class is kind of geared towards it. Hm, and for future reference (in case I actually subscribe, which I may) are you guys mostly heroes or villains? In the PA supergroup, at least.

Yeah, it is. It's pretty damn cool, I've got a level 46 one...
