The Halloween costume temp (aka disguises) that drop during the Halloween event sound interesting. Some cool ones on the list, and there's a lot available. Sadly, they've just been tacked on to the same old door-clicking event, and with longer timers on the doors. Hopefully they will lower those before the real date.
I know I've said this before, but it bears repeating: They need to rethink how their holiday events and rewards work... farming events with multiple characters is just not fun, especially when there's no guarantee the rewards will be available in future events and the rewards are significant (costume slot, costume piece unlocks, etc).
you can still get the old Halloween costume slot.
I know I got mine like a month ago on one of my characters.
The costume pieces is for serious though, because that's lame.
Seesh, a 4 hour test window with half an hour of warning and happening during work hours? Mean.
Sounds like it's not pieces though but temp powers, like the Galaxy/Arachnos stealth powers you get for a few missions. And they only last 2 weeks of game time, which sucks (I like powers I can horde forevers) but at least there won't be any jealousy for missing them. Sounds like they have a new badge though.
Right, the new stuff for this Halloween is a large bunch of temporary costume (disguise) powers, toggles that will disappear 14 real days after you get them from doors.
My point about potentially non-repeating rewards is, you never know if or when they're going to offer another chance at them. Like those 2 unlockable costume pieces from Christmas. Or the Valentine's costumes. So if you want that cool stuff for more than one character, you've got to grind the event multiple times. So far the Halloween stuff at least has been repeated, but there are no guarantees. And the events themselves don't try to be non-grindy in the first place (clicking doors, again and again, doing the same mission 4 or 5 times per character, etc).
Anyway, more rewards should be based on account rather than character: that's the main thing I wish they'd change. I guess it all goes back to the fact that they haven't made the game very alt-friendly, even though it relies on alts to keep players interested.

Web envelope can be useful(though I suppose it is the exact same thing as electrifying fences), would be especially nice for a brute when you want things to stay in punching range. From a purely aesthetic point of view it is boring as fuck though. I don't know what the brute mace mastery blasts look like but the cone that MM's get is also boring..I imagine it isn't all that much different..red arachnos blasts are red arachnos blasts.
Can't comment on any mu mastery stuff sorry.
There is one difference between Web Envelope and Electrifying Fences: EF resists knockback/up/down, where as Web Envelope doesn't. So if you intend to knock things down don't take EF.
Well, I'm here in Chicago and I'm finally set up in my less than stellar place. I'll try to drop by later ingame but some one fill me in on what I've missed in the last week.
Anyone know if there is some non-obvious way to activate autorun? I rebound it to a key that I wouldn't touch, but somehow I manage to get autorun going. It's currently bound to numpad/, my left hand is in the WASD position for movement, and my right hand is on the mouse. I'm a mouselook whore and use it to turn with (like I did in WoW), and I frequently switch between using w and mbutton1+2 to run forward depending on if I'm bringing up the map or something.
It's getting extremely annoying.

It is. The problem is that I rebound it to the other side of the keyboard, and somehow I'm using autorun without touching the key. This is bad. I've managed to pull large packs of NPCs while in missions because of that. I let go of the run key (which I've been holding) and my character continues running and ends up pulling aggro.
It doesn't happen all of the time, but it's pretty damned frequent.

Pressing the Left and Right mouse buttons together makes your character run; holding them for a few seconds activates AutoRun automatically. Perhaps that is what's happening.

That I didn't know, so probably. Basically I don't like taking my hand off of the mouse, so when I need to press a key that's far away from W I use the left and right buttons to run while I bring up the map (that being the most common reason I do so).
I do wish the transfer/rename wasn't so expensive. Or if they gave us one freebie every 3 months or so.
I guess I'm used to seeing the prices that other games charge, but $10 seems pretty darn cheap to me. I really don't see what the fuss is about. You can't compare it to any other MMO and call it expensive IMHO; I believe it's the cheapest of any MMO, actually. There aren't even any restrictions on taking inf or enhs with you.

The thing is, I don't understand why it costs anything at all. It's transferring a file, it's not like they have to go send a guy into the Freedom server dungeon to battle the database dragon and come back with a sack of character disks.

Wasn't the old NA -> EU transfer free?
Well, I'm pretty certain that each server's database is separate. Big databases are nasty and complex beasts, so it's not a simple thing to move a character from one to another. I assume their db managers and programmers have been working on this for months. Hence there's a cost they want to recoup.
And even if there hadn't been a cost to create the service, I think they should be allowed to charge a minimal fee for the convenience. I can't begrudge them that, and I'm usually very quick to begrudge nickel-and-diming of customers by corporations.
Anyway, my point is that they are not using the transfer/rename to gouge the players, and they are not putting restrictions on it. Which is a nice move by Cryptic/NCsoft. $10 just isn't a lot of money for that service in this industry.
As for EU transfers, there might have been a very small number of those, and hence they were not handled automatically.

Well, because Cryptic and NCSoft like money. Also, they probably want to discourage too much use of the transfer service, because they wouldn't want people hoping from server. It would be really easy for a bunch of assholes to transfer to say, Victory, do some griefing, transfer to Virtue and change their names, for example.
Compared to other MMO's, it seems that the price is pretty reasonable. However, I think it would have been classy for them to add some free transfer and rename tokens into the Vet. Rewards program.
I'm going to wait to do any transferring for a few weeks. By which time my Canadian dollars are going to be worth more than US ones if the current trend continues.
I'm just sad because I would use this feature a lot if it was free, or even $1-2, but I can't see justification for paying $10 to take the 'Overlord' off 'Overlord Slider' (if it's even open).

At least the name-check feature lets you research stuff like that in advance of transfers or rename attempts easily. Did you check Slider since this morning?

One thing I've noticed: While there's a fair amount of mid/high level hero teams, there doesn't seem to be as much going on in that range the for Virtue villains. Anyone interested in a villain team in this range? I'm not looking for some "regular night", just to figure out who's got villains they're interested in playing near my brute's level.
I'll quote myself from last week here. My brute Frenetica is now 39, and we've been running reasonably often with FlammieBC's Dark/Thugs (now 35) and Ein's Rad/Rad corruptor (37). This combo has been able to crank it up to relentless pretty smoothly, with or without a 4th lackied to Ein.
Lackies are still welcome, but I didn't get any real mentor-level feedback last time. Figured I'd try again now that the team level is up some; I'm typically on weeknights 9ish-11something CST and longer on weekends. Global handle is @Foul Flame.

I demand they pay ME and then transfer my character.
Well, you could always re-roll a character if Slider is available. No charge for new characters (yet).
And replay him to 50? :P
How many 50s do you have Scoot?
And you're still playing the game, I don't see how it would be different to play the game with a character that has the name you wanted as opposed to just playing a new character.
Well, looks like the I11 promo cycle is starting. Closed Beta this month or next I suspect.

Yeah, that costume contest i mentioned a while back? Finals for game-wide titles are going to be held on Test. There's a possibility that they will happen during the i11 beta. If you make it to the finals you will get a pass to join in.

What the hell, I knew something was wrong, and I was travelling way too far for my mayhem. My last char got sent to Drea and I don't know why, all the previous times it was Mikey.

And suddenly, I am pulled out of my Final Fantasy XII and .hack//G.U. induced MMO coma, and will be bringing my mid 30s scrapper over to Allegory :-D
Well, there was one, but I think they ended it last year.

But I loled anyway.
