Well I must say that new map and the APC really add something special to this game. Each expansion just keeps upping the quality tenfold.
Yeah, I'm totally digging this expansion as well. I wasn't a huge fan of Omega Dawn. Love the dropship, hate the Omega Factory map. But I love both the APC and the new glacier map. I especially love the trenches/crevaces you can fly through. There are also a couple mountains that have ladders on them. Perfect for sniping and using the binoculars. And I love that village in the middle of the map. Church shootouts FTW. [/splooge]
Hey, does anyone know where the landmines are in the new map? I haven't been able to find any yet.

I suppose if you keep spawning in the apc eventualy you might get mines. Seems to be random what they give you. So far I've gotten binoculars rifle and sniper rifle once each.

Had some fun trying to teach the new guys some of the more advanced techniques too.
I distinctly recall something along the lines of, "Damnit Beeb, don't shoot me, I'm trying to teach the new guy." Then you blew up. Heh.
That was probably me, only cut out the teaching part. On the plus side, in pub games, I'm getting so much better as a team player. I have this amazing ability to be an awesome defensive player, and with the new update fixing the defense ribbon, I'll level up pretty quick.

No, it was on a Eucadia map before I made the server. I then posted telling you and Rad to jump on the actual server. I think it was you and I who were fooling around in a base, I in a tank and you hugging onto it so I couldn't shoot you. Then, once I finally shook you off, I proceeded to chase you around and not shoot to make you fear the upcoming possibility to death.
I love CTF on Vaporfield. In one, the enemy had no clue I was standing on the ice shelf behind their base and kept on sniping at them, and in another I waltzed right into their large structure, grabbed the binocs and sniper rifle and raised hell. For whatever reason, in both games they refused to go and kill me.
i'm down for tonight. I got nothing planned since none of my friends want to go see The Forbidden Kingdom. Why? Because they're dirty fascists, that's why.
I might be able to make it tonight. I grabbed the expansion too but I haven't given it a shot yet. Also, the PS3 informs me I can create a 20 man server. Is the check usually accurate?
As long as don't start downloading torrents while hosting, generally yea. It's also dependent on if you are on a cable or dsl connection. if it's cable, your speed is also dependent on your neighbors internet usage. DSL has no such restriction.
I've had this game since launch, used to love it, but haven't played in months. Obviously I only have the base game, wonder if its worth it to get back into it... Are there still generally a lot of base game servers out there for those wanting to "retest" the waters, or am I pretty much screweed unless i buy up some expansions.

There are tons of servers both base and expansions.
Apparently though they have made a change .. "Casual" servers are Friendly fire off and only small to mid sized maps, "Pro" servers are Friendly Fire On and still have the large maps.
Nah, I wouldn't say you have to buy the expansions at all. There are plenty of vanilla servers still. The expansions are awesome, but if you're just looking to see if you can get back into it you'll be fine.
So I'm heavily interested in this game, but the only complaints I've heard are that the controls are "weird." This has never been expanded on, so could someone clarify what might be meant by that? What's the controller layout?
While EVERY game uses one stick to turn, and the other stick to aim... warhawk uses one stick to aim, one stick to 'roll' and movement is done my actually moving the controller.
Control of the guy is 'normal' .. the vehicles use the left/right movement of the controller. and the jet uses the full up/down/left/right movement.

No, you can turn motion controls on or off. Just go into the control options for flight and set it. I'd also recommend pro-flight controls if you haven't already enabled em.
yes.. afaik... you MUST turn via motion.. although you can swap Left & right controls.
No, motion controls are optional. If they weren't, I wouldn't be able to play, given my crippled-ness.
Pro-flight: left stick aims the target reticule, right stick is for plane orientation (up, down, roll right, roll left). Pushing both sticks in the same direction maneuvers the plane much quicker than just using the left stick.

Mine is at 19% right now. It's probably been about half an hour. It'll probably take two to two and a half hours for it to finish. I don't even know if I'll try to register for the Konami ID now. I'll be able to play more Warhawk once it's done, if anyone will be on then.

mines been on for nearly 12 hours, approaching 30%, luckily i registered 2 days ago or so for the ID, i hear thats a bitch to do now..hopefully it'll get easier in a few days, the beta doesnt start until monday anyway...and i dont think its going to be really playable on monday.
At least its let me get some work done! hopefully will get to play some warhawk with you all tomorrow, its much funner then playing randomly (provided the mgo betas done by then anyway)

I have to say getting 2 apcs in a zones match is a bit broken. By trading off shields you can basicly hold a point indefinatly. Unless of course some one with a flamethrower or wrench manages to sneak in.
Oh man, that was probably the coolest sequence of events ever on the new map.
I'm hiding in their base when they're coming back with our flag. So, I kill a tank with their own turret then pop down below. I wind my way back up secretly and race a guy to a tank. The guy is going to beat me so I furiously mash my rocket launcher and throw a grenade and get him just before he's about to shoot me. Then, I see a guy in a jeep aiming for me with the new 50 cal, and a guy running for an APC. I sprint over, grenade the guy going into the APC just before he gets there. I hop in, double hit R2, and ram the guys in the jeep. When the APC stops I immediately put up the shield and jump out to rocket the Warhawk going after me. BWAHAHAHA. I feel like fucking rambo.
I'd started a new match and got the Cruise Missle. Fired it off and targetted a lone guy trying to make a zone grab.
Felt that moment of satisfaction when the missle hits and target is obliterated.
Then realized I'd just killed teamkilled Malachai ... It was a "oh fuck WHAT HAVE I DONE!!!" moment. I'd got confused which colour I was on , and killed my own teamate ... also the only other fellow PA'er on the server
I had a one man army moment last night on Omega Dawn. I had the flag at their base, but they had my flag at their base too. So inbetween firing off missiles at warhawks to fend them off, I'm hunting down the person who has the other flag. But because I had to stay next to the flag for so long to recapture it, it almost always fell back into the enemies hands once bullets started flying. I think i killed 4-5 flag carriers all while I was getting ZERO support from my team members.
I ended up getting 2 flag caps in the end so all was good ONE MAN ARMY!!
