I'm getting better at the game, the more I've been playing it. I'm still completely shit in a Warhawk, and I tend to just stay the hell away from them, as I'm absolutely no help to my team in one.

I've noticed I'm noticably better now in a Warhawk and actually good at base defense and base assault. It's getting to the bases I have alot of trouble with.
I'm starting to find alot of fun in base capture/defend. While alot of people hop into a warhawk and zoom off to the next capture point, I'm the guy manning the 50cal or missile turret There are plenty of "whooaaa shit" moments when you see two tanks and a full laden APC heading your way. Just gotta throw a hellova lot of steel at 'em and really know when to retreat or go for close quarters combat.
Absolutely love the new map, just put a good two hours into it. My favourite map so far.
I guess what I meant is typicaly with the higher rank guys they like to basicly "corner cheese" they're oponets. When I hop into a warhawk on these new servers half the time there is someone from the other team already oh his way to light my ass up. When I don't get in a warhawk then I get tow missled/binoculard/sniped.
But yeah once airborne I can start isolating lone fighters and pounce on them before they can get back up and start racking up a kill streak, it's just getting off the ground in one peice.
Obviously I'm sure everyones noticed my strong point is dogfighting/base capture. Think I'll share a nice little anoying thing some one did during a zones match in the battle for ecuadia map. At the hill base just across the bridge from the main base on a full map there is a spot behind some rubble you can hide in and capture a zone. During the game this morning a lone soldier from the red team was hiding there keeping 4 guys on the blue team from being able to capture the point.
Maybe when I get home from work I'll try to make a map to detail it a bit better.
It was on a medium-sized zones match on the new map (Vapourised Glacier?). There was a huge, ongoing battle in the middle zone; it was the village. I end up chasing this one guy down a set of stairs, in between buildings, through buildings, in and out of vehicles etc. This is going on for a damn long time, like a whole minute long, just me and him. We always seemed to stumble upon a health pack, or a bio-generator, or a jeep to escape in, and the battle just kept going on.
Eventually it came down to circle-strafing with machine guns. The end is near for one of us. He ends up strafing behind a head-high wall so I lose sight of him. While continuing to strafe around the other side of that wall, I stumble upon a tank that spawned right in my path, just then. So i quickly jump into the tank and swing the turret around in time to see him hop over the wall towards me I think I hesitated just a moment to savour the taste of victory before blowing him away. So when his corpse flies across the road after copping a tank shell, his teams' APC boosts through the street and just runs STRAIGHT OVER his corpse and tosses it into the building behind me! Thats gotta hurt!
Needless to say my house mate and I were in stitches for quite a while
So hey, my ethernet cable arrived today, and I was able to effortlessly swap my wireless bridge with it without a hitch. My PS3 is now directly connected to my router.
But, I want to get it running at the fastest speeds possible, and I heard from a friend what a bitch it was to set it up to NAT3 (which apparently is the PS3's requirement). Does anyone have a port forwarding guide for PS3 that's guaranteed to work?
Do a quick google for "PS3 Nat settings" and you'll get pretty much all you need. If you get stuck with anything in particular though post up (or pm me) and you'll no doubt get help!
So I got my clan invite, Thanks RD! Is there any chance of having a PA night on a different night of the week, say Wednesday maybe? Thursday is my tabletop gaming at friends house days. Are there usually PA people on randomly all week?

I'm sometimes grumpy and random, feel free to overlook the strange man in the corner.

I think what I lack in Warhawk skills I make up for in proxies, like when I tossed one into the hideout of the enemy flag carrier and he couldn't make it to the exit in time.
I think you're all a little pissed at me whenever I proxy you. :P
I'm becoming really paranoid with the mines. Even if I spot one and destroy it successfully, I am always on my toes for a hidden one.
One of the many rules of Warhawk: There is always another mine.
Ok, I've found something out. You know those seemingly weak, useless machine gun mounts you find scattered all around the place no one ever uses?
They are awesome. No one pay attention to them but they will fuck shit up. If a Warhawk decides to hover you can take it out surprisingly quickly, footsoldier at a distance are fucked, tanks that aren't focusing on you are fucked, APCs not facing you for a charge are fucked.
Ah man, you guys switched it to Wednesday nights? What the Hell? I have a late night class on Wednesdays! Well, only for a few more weeks, then I'm bloody free.

They were weak and useless, however in the patch that arrived along with Broken Mirror they were vastly improved. Thankfully most folks haven't noticed that yet.
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

Sorry dash, somebody asked for a switch as they had problems with Thursday ... I can rotate it back and forth weekly so that everyone gets some gametime in.
Lately though there have been PA folks on almost every night, I usually end up in a game with somebody from G&T.
I finally got this game yesterday. I couldn't find it in any stores I went in, until I saw it for a mere 34$ new at an ebgames as I went in to preorder GTA 4. It's game only though, so I don't have the bluetooth headset it came with. I do have a usb headset lying around though, I wonder if that works.
Man is the learning curve steep on this one. I had a pretty good time trying to fly though, I even got 1-2 kills while in the air!
I really need to save this as I roll it out every 5 pages or so:
#1. Change your flight mode to PRO FLIGHT in the options.
#2. Double clicking boost gives you a turbo boost
#3. Holding both boost and brake while turning will allow you to bank (turn) your Warhawk sharply
#4. When locked on with a TOW missle, don't fire right away after locking on ... (turbo) boost as close as you can get THEN fire giving enemy no time to deploy chaf (no warning signal)
#5. When enemy has locked on and you are out of chaff, use (turbo) boost and go through environmental obstacles (ridges, etc) to cause enemy missle to be taken out
These 5 things will improve your kill/death ratio tremendously, allow you to escape when being targetted (sometimes), and in general improve your overall flight performance while dogfighting.

I'm hosting the game tomorrow, right? As I said, I can host up to 20 people. And I'll try to name it PA Hawkin' this time.
Remind me again, what time does it begin? I'm GMT -5:00.
So I have a couple questions for you Warhawk vets:
I don't have the game but you guys have pretty much convinced me to snag it. First question, which version should I aim to get, the disk or the download? I generally like have a hardcopy of a game, but since it's multi only I don't care so much.
Second: I also do not have a bluetooth headset yet. I know the disk comes with one but it's $60 and it'd be great if I could save a buck or two. So can anyone recommend a solid bluetooth which is compatable with the PS3 and under $30. I know nothing about headsets so I'm hesitant to jump on a good deal.
Depending on your answers I should be on in the next couple of days.
I just bought a new soyo bluetooth headset for $10 but I think that deal is over. I bought my original headset for 12 + 5 shipping from ebay so you don't have to spend a lot. Most any bluetooth headset should work, though if I were you I'd try to get one with a mute button (for open mic games) and bluetooth v1.2.

I've had a hell of a time finding copies with the bluetooth headset, actually. My understanding is the only way to get them now is ebay. Look around for a deal, you can probably snag a decent one for under $50. Rebates happen to, I know Nokia's got one going on (here in Canada, at least), and I can get a modest headset for about $35.
It's also not easy finding the game itself, it seems.
