Peter Dinklage is in this? Say it isn't so, Pete! This movie directed by the same person who did Racing Stripes.

The Bourne Ultimatum (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)
Everyone's favorite Matt Damon is back.

Hot Rod (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)

Becoming Jane (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)
Anne Hathaway as Jane Austen. Mmm, Anne Hathaway.

The Ten (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)

August 8:
Daddy Day Camp (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)
The apparently excellent Daddy Day Care has earned itself a sequel. Starring the forever sinking Cuba Gooding Jr. and directed by Kevin from The Wonder Years. Attention to all people with too much money: I will take some of it. There are things I would love to do with it.

August 17:
Superbad (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)

The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters [LA/NY/SEA] (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)
A documentary about two people competing over the hi-score in Donkey Kong. This is what everyone in G&T will look like in 12 years. I highly recommend watching the trailer.

The Invasion (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)
Quasi-based on Invasion of the Body Snatchers, we have Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig in something that is possibly a wreck. Only time will tell.

Death at a Funeral (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)
This fucker is finally going into wide release. Directed by Frank Oz.

The Last Legion (imdb, wiki)

August 24:

Mr. Bean's Holiday (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)

Illegal Tender (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)
That is a horrible, horrible movie title.

The 11th Hour [limited] (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)
An environmental documentary like An Inconvenient Truth narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio.

September Dawn (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)
Not to be confused with Rescue Dawn, this movie contains the Three M's: Mormons, Massacre, and Militia!

August 31:
Halloween (imdb, wiki)
Rob Zombie remakes the slasher classic, though I'm not sure why this isn't coming out in October instead. It just seems like a no-brainer. I dread what he'll do with the theme song (which I love so dearly).

Balls of Fury (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)

Death Sentence (imdb, wiki, apple trailer)

Ladron que roba a ladron (Bandoleros) [limited] (imdb)

The Nines [limited] (imdb, wiki)

Deep Water [limited] (imdb, wiki)
Documentary about an around the world yacht race in 1968 which went awry.

I skipped Japan and the Netherlands for this month because, really, who gives a fuck? Or, more truthfully, I got lazy. If anyone wants either of them reinstated, let me know and it will [eventually] be done. My ass is poor, so I'm looking forward to seeing none of the above. But if I weren't, I'd be looking forward to Bourne, perhaps Superbad, and the Donkey Kong documentary.

Okay droogs, what are you looking forward to?

I'll probably end up going to see Saw IV this October but I foresee that being the last time I go to a theater this year.

Alvin and The Chipmunks looks god-awful. Seems appropriate the trailer features Alvin eating shit.

I couldn't really figure out what to say for it, other than there are a couple of Reno 911 guys in it (one acting, one directing). Mentioning that a film has Christopher Walken in it these days is more or less the same as saying that it's a talkie.

To answer your question, Gim, it's often only a few select cinemas that get the re-releases. Bigger or arthouse cinemas in the larger cities. We have a cinema here called The Showroom which is dedicated to showing re-releases/foreign/indie/film-festival films.

Saw an advanced screening of Superbad last week. My thoughts are spoiler free, but thought I'd spoiler anyway in case people want to avoid bias.
It was pretty well done. Another of those "geeks trying to become cool" type stories. Very quotable, and Jonah Hill can carry a film. I laughed out loud quite a few times, which is something I usually don't do- especially when the humor is this juvenile. I'd say an A to even an A+ if my opinions had a grading system.... which they don't. So... Z+

I haven't seen it, but a colleague of mine told me Death at a Funeral is hilarious.
    I trust him on that.

What I can tell you from personal experience:
    Black Sheep is indeed hilarious!

Heeeeey, Death at a Funeral (BIFF) has Alan Tudyk in it! Might have to rock along to the Regent...
