Anything that doesn't involve incessant switching to advantageous Pokemon cannot rightly be called a Pokemon match.
I know, it's sad, but it'll just have to be anime style matches where they seem to forget that there's no rule against sending a pokemon back out after they've been out.
If only they each had their own damage counters, but sadly they don't.
Charizard is going to be ace, a heavy character with good recovery? :^:
As for moves, I predict:
B - Flamethrower, longer range than Bowser's flame breath but not as powerful.
Up B - Wing Attack, in the air it's also a third jump and possibly repeatable like Jigglypuff's.
Side B - Slash? Metal Claw? Possibly a Dragon Rage or something. Either way, probably a close range melee strike(s)
Ivysaur
B - Razor Leaf, like Falco's blaster
Up B - Magical Leaf? Something that would blast him into the air as part of the attack
Side B - Vine Whip, controllable vines similar to Shiek's whip
Also, vines would be his grab similar to Link's hookshot
Squirtle
B - Water Gun, weaker than flamethrower but controllable (raise/lower the angle of the stream while in use)
Up B - Skull Bash, similar to Luigi's side B. Can be charged and angled.
Side B - Aqua Tail? Maybe Bite, he could lunge at them and latch onto them. Maybe that would be a grapple move though.
Guessing moves is more fun than guessing updates.

I think if Nintendo opts not to include some sort of Mii support to Brawl it could really miss a trick there. The way I see it, Mii inclusion could just raise interest by a further degree.
Imagine it this way - you have the option to import your Mii for use as a character. They all take the same basic moves, but for all four of your B-attacks you have a choice of say twenty stock moves, from which you scupt the fighting capabilities of your Mii.
Could be interesting and novel just to see a slightly personalised 'self' character in play.

I always heard people asking for Red to be playable in the games, and just use Pokeballs, but I never thought it would actually happen. Ever.
I want him to have the other three generations of trainers and their starter Pokemon (I would assume at the same levels as these) as costumes, because otherwise it seems... unfair somehow. The only problem I see (you could fudge it to make the other fire types glide) is that Infernape is significantly smaller than Charizard and the others.
I have a feeling his Final Smash will in fact be Mewtwo.
In fact, my guess for tonight is PT's Final Smash.

As a sidegame/minigame, maybe, but Nintendo has always shied away from things that involve beating up / shooting images of real people. Not that mii's are, but they blocked similar things with Perfect Dark.
I kinda wish that they'd picked a consistent evolution level for the Trainer's Pokemon. Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle are more iconic as a trio than the three they've chosen. It just seems like a setup for a Zelda/Shiek situation, where one option is far and away the best.
On the other hand, having Charizard playable makes it difficult to claim that Ridley wouldn't work as a playable character. Their frames, while by no means identical, are at least similar.

It would probably work much better if they used Venusaur or Blastoise instead of Charizard. Then having the other starters wouldn't be a problem. But it would be a little bit ridiculous to have the other fire evolutions behave the same as Charizard. Unless this Charizard just doesn't happen to use its wings.

It's not like there's a beat-up-the-Mii game on Wii Sports or anything.

It's not unfair at all. The original starters are the real deal, the rest of them are just like the developers said "oh man we already used all the good pokemon designs, now what?" There should definitely be alternate trainer costumes though, at least to play as the blue/red rival.

See your Charizard is a flying Bowser clone too.
If it were me, I'd do:
B- Substitute. Lowers Charizard's stamina, and replaces him with an unmovable substitute. It can be hit a few times without harming Charizard's percentage, but it will break if it's beaten too badly.
Side B- Flamethrower in the direction you pushed.
Up B: any of a lot of different flying moves- Fly, Wing Attack, Steel Wing, Air Slash, etc.
Ivysaur
B- Solarbeam. Works like Samus' charge beam.
Over B- Razor leaf
Up B- Vine Whip. Vines shoot out in a generally aimed direction. They grab onto whatever the touch first. Touching a ledge will let Ivysaur push off of it to launch himself upward (pretty good precision is required for this). If someone's hogging the ledge, the vines knock them off, but don't grab the ledge afterwards. Touch an item, and the vines'd retrieve it for Ivysaur. Touch an opponent, and the vines drive it straight down. When over ground, this will result in a painful slam attack. When in the air, it'll drag them down while boosting Ivysaur up. Maybe a bit overpowered, but at least it's a novel way to recover.
Squirtle
B: Water Gun. A bit stronger than Link's arrows, and the shots arc more and can't travel as far.
Over B: Surf. A small wave rises up underneath Squirtle and lets him rapidly travel one way or another, functioning similarly to Yoshi's Egg Roll or Jigglypuff's Rollout. If I had to guess, I'd say he's doing this or something similar in one of the close-up screenshots of him.
Up B: Hydro Pump. Think the Hover nozzle from Mario Sunshine.

Dude, Blaziken is a damned kung-fu rooster. That can set you on FIRE. If that's not awesome, I don't know what is.
Squirtle/Blastoise were my favorite pokes in gen one, and I didn't play pokemon from then until D/P, but even I can recognize that a lot of gen 1's designs were pretty boring. Of course, some of the new pokemon are reaching or unoriginal, but seriously... Charmanders line is pretty boring. FIRE DRAGON RAAARRRRR. Turtwig is cuter than Squirtle.

Okay. 3D still wins.
At least 3D got the shape of the eyes right. Also, his tail isn't obviously running up against the square of space alloted to sprites, like the sprite is.

Hm... maybe, just maybe, the problem is that you're using Pokemon Stadium 64. If only we had a model from this decade to use... hm...
He's saying it's not fair to compare a Pokemon Green sprite to Brawl, since there's more than a decade of time between them. So you have to use Pokemon Stadium.
