I was ~200g away from my normal flying mount.
Grinding the Blood Elves in SmV.
Pattern: Cloak of Eternity drops. Sell it for 70g.
Some time later, I was doing the god awful quest to pick tubers with the boars in the Cipher of Damnation chain. And then Design: Gleaming Dawnstone drops.
    Sells for 150g.

I find it funny that when I had my 2 years of playing the game I thought back to when I had started
That is something I never want to do again ever

I was working on my paladin's epic pony and basicly flew through the quests until the pristine black diamond part
300g? that's more than the other mats I paid for

Their's is static (hosted on Imageshack). They saved both images and turned them into an animated GIF.

Although it wouldn't be too complex to make a PHP script that auto-generated a GIF once a day or whatever.

    A) I'm not complaining about a hardware upgrade. My realm has been stable, but that doesn't mean it can't get even better.

    2) This may just be the first in a series. Who knows, maybe yours will be down for 3 days. >.>

I assume you've hit the AH to look for cheap Outlands greens? I did that with my poorly geared level 60 alts, and between those and quest rewards/instance drops, I upgraded a lot of stuff very quickly and cheaply.

Don't spend too much on anything, I'd usually just buy things listed around 3-5 gold, and then vendor the old item for a couple gold. Sometimes I'd even get back more than I paid for the upgrade.

Against my better judgement, I put 3 levels into my Shaman last night. I'd forgotten how nice it was to have sub-1 hour levels. This doesn't bode well.

So guys, I need some suggestions re: presents for WoW friends.

What are some things that are fun/useful/cute and are not TERRIBLY hard to procure, that are fun to send to people as gifts? In the past I've made festival outfits and such but that's sorta boring since nobody ever really wears them around :P.

    So...suggestions?

    GOLD!

We used to do a loot grab-bag when we were trying to motivate people to venture into MC with no promise of loot as we'd never been there before. So we had officers donate items for a grab bag, some good, some shitty, and would do a prize drawing every 25 minutes. Went over quite well.

good motivation is "show up or get your ass kicked out of the guild"

now a grab bag drawing for a run with no un-looted hounds could work wonders.

If their alts (or mains, even) are in the level 40-50ish range, a piece or two of BoE Tier 0 is usually pretty nice. Just remember to get the Hunter bracers for a shaman. :V

Steam tonks made by engineers. Not expensive, generally not up on the AH, they last a while and can be fun for everyone.

    Ogre Suit would be awesome.

I'm reminded about something a couple of years ago. One of our bigger pranks started with our raid leader jabbering while people were getting to Onyxia and was professing how awesome our new MT was because he was one of the few Troll Warriors on our server (at that time). The comment started a back-and-forth chat about how our raid leader dreams of the MT and that he wears Troll Cologne and shit. Eventually he jokingly said something about bathing himself in Troll Sweat.

When his birthday came by, more than half the raid mailed him Troll Sweat and Steamy Romance Novels.

Um no. We can make steam tonks, just like the ones at the darkmoon faire. You do need to do a minor amount of rep grind with them (Friendly I think) but they have the pattern. I know, I have the controller in my bags. They can be a lot of fun.
