I'm fond of vanilla scented candles personally. I have no idea what brand I use but try and avoid the more synthetic ones.
Also, if you don't find any candles you like, think about picking up a small oil burner (like a regular candle holder but with a small dish above the candle) and a few essential oils. Just fill the dish with water and a few oil drops and let the candle burn. My mother mixes oils and they make the room smell lovely, and you don't always have to use 'flowery' scents (tea tree is a nice example). Hope that was of at least some use!
While they are costly, they do make up for it in quality. I find Grapevine to be very low-key.

IT'S A TRAP!
I heard from a "friend" that White Barn, aka, Bath n' Body Works, candles are very good. Most scents aren't too strong, and they burn clean. Also like $25 each, so there you go.
You have hope. I work for a fragrance manufacturer. While I can't offer any specific names (as the name changes from client to client), I can suggest going for a linen or cotton scent.
