Bringing Money

How much spending money did you guys typically bring to PAX? I plan on picking up the Capcom 20th Anniversary Art Book by UDON ($80) there and was wondering how much more I should bring for the extra cool stuff you can buy.

I'm usually good with $200, but I split my room with three other people and I'm not interested in merchandise. Since you're coming from Portland and you're buying extra stuff, you'll probably want a few hundred more.

Best thing to do would probably just set a limit and bring that much. There's gonna be quite a few booths to buy things at and so there will always be that "one more thing" to buy.

I personally didn't spend a dime last year... just wandered around enjoying all the free entertainment and swag.

Don't forget to budget for food.

Almost all my "PAX budget" goes to food and booze, and as such I have little need for cash. However, remember the area is quite urban and most locals can point you toward the financial district land of ATMs (which I mention because I'm sure the ones closest to the WSCTC will get drained, it has happened at PAX before).

There are Washington Mutual cash machines at Pacific Place mall, just a block down (one outside so it can be used after hours).

How much do the PAX t-shirts cost? That's pretty much the only thing I really want to buy.

This resulted in a few relaxing walks, talking on my cellphone to my (now)-ex-girlfriend (whore!). It wasn't too bothersome.

Personally, I dropped about 120 in my two days there last year, not including gas money and hotel costs.

Hmmm....well, I intend to give MC Frontalot some money for merchandise and for his new album, Secrets From the Future. Also, thanks for reminding me about buying PA shirts, and I'll probably pick up some of their books. I actually intend to splurge quite a bit.
My food budget is usually small though.

Larger vendors are able to take ATM. Bandland and Bawls however you want to carry cash nothing over $20 bills and tons of $1 bills for bawls. Think I am limiting myself to under 135ish this year.

(Instead of opening a new thread for a related question, I'd thought I 'd use this one)

I want to also grab a sketch of a Street Fighter character from the UDON guys. I've never been to any kind of convention and was wondering how much they charge for the sketches (generally).

Amen to that. We haven't really gotten to feel the increase in our dollar since everything just stays the same price here, but alot of things in the states are going to seem cheap, especially alcohol!
