Well today turned out to be a good day after all. EA and Crytek put out a press release with Crysis' release date, along with two new screenshots.
NOVEMBER 16th! Europe and America, 2007.Redwood City, Calif. – August 2, 2007 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) and Crytek, award-winning developers of Far Cry, today announced that Crysis (TM), will be hitting retail stores in North America and Europe on November 16, 2007 exclusively for the PC. A technical achievement featuring stunning DirectX 10 and DirectX 9 visuals, cunning gameplay, and an epic story, Crysis is recognized as one of the most anticipated PC games and first person shooters of 2007, recently winning Best PC game from the Game Critics Awards: Best of E3 2007.
“Crytek is constantly striving to push the boundaries of both game design and technology, while maintaining quality at the highest bar,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek. “We’re thankful to our fans for their support and patience, and we’re excited to bring them Crysis this year. It’s going to be worth the wait.”
Offering true, open-ended gameplay, Crysis gives gamers an unparalleled amount of freedom that fosters completely unique gaming experiences. Players are outfitted with a revolutionary Nanosuit and an arsenal of fully customizable weapons, giving them a wide array of options not only in approaching the entire game, but every single objective or individual encounter. And they will need every advantage they can get going head to head against a menacing and highly intelligent alien threat amid dynamic, hostile battlefields that range from lush, tropical jungles, flash-frozen landscapes and a horrifying zero gravity environment.
Crysis also breaks new ground in multiplayer with the introduction of PowerStruggle – a unique team-based strategic mode for up to 32 players, where opposing sides battle for control of advanced weaponry and vehicles to overcome their enemies. For those who prefer the pulse-pounding action of deathmatch, Crysis will also feature an Instant Action mode, with the highly adaptive Nanosuit serving as the ultimate tool to outwit your opponents.SCREENSHOTSNEW

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
No confirmed requirements have been released, but this is what we know so far from the developers (taken from Crysis-Online.com):
* Crysis will run on both DX9 & DX10 as well as Windows XP and Windows Vista.
* A graphics card that supports Shader Model 2 or higher is required.
* CryEngine2 is estimated to scale back 2 to 3 years, and scale ahead 1.5 years.
* A single 7800GTX will run the game quite well on fairly high settings according to Crysis Art Director, Michael Khaimzon.
* Jack Mamais of Crytek said in an exclusive Crysis-Online interview that his X1900XT runs the game very well at reasonably high settings.
* Crysis will dynamically utilize all processing threads available. Meaning quad-core processors will be supported.
It goes without saying that I'm excited. November isn't too far away, and it looks like it'll be a good month with this and Mass Effect. The wait will be tough, though.
So with Crysis little more than two and a half months away, what features are you all looking forward to most? Will anyone be doing any upgrading? I know the first thing I'll do will be to jump into multiplayer. Power Struggle sounds like a lot of fun, and hopefully there will be enough people that can actually run this monster that we can get a good game-on going. :P

Edit: Thanks for the requirement information. I might actually be able to run this, albeit at ultra-low settings.
I updated my PC not too long ago, and this was one of the reasons why.
Now I won't have to wait until next summer to buy this (when I build a new PC).
Not really
It looks great and runs great on DX9 and Windows XP, so there really is no need to unless you want the extra pretty. Also, as far as multiplayer goes, DX9 players can't join DX10 servers. But it's the other way around for DX10 players. I can't say what the fan-base will be like between the two DX versions, though. So if you really need an upgrade, DX10 will at least let you enjoy every server in the game.
Well, yes, and a DX10 graphics card. I would just grab an 8800GTS in another month or so as they will drop don a bit further in price. OTOH, I bet this will be like Flight Simulator X where to run it on the highest settings, your really going to need to shell out big money for it, but if you just want it to not look like ass and still play at good frames, you can shell out and get a 7900gt or some other high end 7 series gpu and still be able to hold up against the game while not breaking the bank. Sure, explosions won't have incredible amounts of debris floating about, but at least you will can enjoy the game.
Look at the videos mate.
Sweet fucking God.
I'll be using DX9, but I swear, that DX10 video is the best looking thing I've ever seen, ever.
Ever.
Oh god yes. I can't wait to make tons of cool maps or make a nice mod set in the pacific
Yeah... as I already have a licensed copy of vista... and an 8800 GTS 320 already in my PC... maybe it's finally time to say goodbye to XP.
Or maybe just dual boot.
I wouldn't mind a World War 2 multiplayer mod set in the Pacific with the CryEngine 2. You could have some huge, intense battles with the scale of the maps. Battleships and planes and submarines all over the place, troops landing on the islands. We need to get on this come the 16th of November!
I love you as this was exactly what I was planning on doing.
Then we must form a team and make the ultimate World War 2 Pacific Theater multiplayer mod! It wouldn't be too hard, what with the map editor. We'd have to model and texture the soldiers, weapons, and vehicles, though. That would be most of the leg-work.
Seriously, I'm all for doing this.
PREPARE TO FIGHT OPERATION DOWNFALL
Also, I'm much more excited to scamper around the islands and do some diving than I am to shoot a guy. I'd pay cash money for a flying mod.
'cause my God, is it pretty.
You know when PC gaming has become a sad parody of itself when people with otherwise rocking systems are wondering if they can run new games at average settings. Or, maybe Crysis is just that stupid ridiculous.
That motion blur on the DX10 jungle fight is pretty sweet. I've become a big fan of realistic per-pixel object motion blur (as opposed to that full-screen framebuffer grab-and-vomit crap of old). Makes low framerates more tolerable, and it looks cool.
Oh you're more than fine. You should be able to play it with most of the settings on high. It'll also take use of your dual core processor.
Indeed! We're keeping it simple, though. It'll be focused on infantry and a few vehicles, simply replacing the models with weapons (mortars, flame throwers, the Japanese sword, etc) and vehicles of the time. Coding wouldn't be too difficult, as the game modes will mostly remain the same from the base game, which would be Team Deathmatch and Power Stuggle (team prestige points buys equipment, and the objective is to destroy the enemy's HQ). We'd remove the augmentation system, however, so your standard American soldier won't be able to go invisible. :P There would be still be tanks and planes, however, but since the game is 16v16, it would be kept few and focused (although tank and plane maps are most certainly possible).
So in tight jungles, with Crysis' day and night cycle, and without the help of the augmentation system, I think it would be pretty fun. It would be cool to do it within Penny-Arcade.
I can't promise that I'll be able to dedicate a massive chunk of time, but I'd definitely love to be involved. If this is just a hobbyist mod, then I'll be all for it. If it requires a huge contract of obligation, though, I don't know how involved I could get.
It's more of a hobbyist mod I think. Any examples of what you've done?
If it's a hobbyist mod, I'd absolutely love to be a part of it.
We'll be using the crysis engine, crytek 2, for this mod btw ;-)
Oh, of course, I was just wanting to build a few things in something I was comfortable with to show off. :P
Is Crytek 2 shipping with Crysis, or is it available to get with something like FarCry? I'm on the site right now, but I don't see alot regarding where to get Crytek 2.
I'm not sure but I'm sure it will be provided.
The mod tools will ship with the game, I believe. And yeah, it's just a hobbyist mod, if we can get one or two modelers/skinners and a coder. I don't want to have any delusions, and I'm going to be cautiously optimistic. We just think it'll be cool if we get one or two other people together to make a small mod where we replace the models with WW2 Pacific Theater soldiers and mod in vehicles and weapons for the time. I think the capabilities of the engine would make a pretty cool infantry-focused mod (although, I still want a plane or two and some tanks and jeeps). We'd just have to remove the augmentation system that's from the nano-suit and the weapon customization, and I'm sure the SDK will let us do that.
Best Tree Shooter sim ever.
I'm now ready with my Dual Core 1.6, 7900GS, and 2 Gigs of RAM.
That's not a particularly great price for ram, it's only good in comparison to regular best buy prices.
DDR2 667 memory is around $80 or so if you look hard enough.

Well, it's much cheaper than it was when I was looking to upgrade 5 months ago, that's for sure.
