Are there typically enough to go around? Is PAX expecting to totally sell out this year? How early should one arrive to have a good chance at securing two 3 day passes?
My group is coming up from Portland on a sort of business trip. We work at Ground Kontrol Classic Arcade.
Thing is, we've already reserved lodging and time off and everything. It was all finalized ONE DAY late, and now pre-reg is closed. It would totally suck to have plunked down motel money and gotten time off work only to be turned away at the door.
So does it usually work out? I know PAX is bigger than ever this year, and we're totally stoked on going. Just hope we can get in! Tickets at the door!
Thanks.

I've never seen them stop selling tickets. There will be a separate line for people to buy tickets day-of. It will take a little longer to get in on friday, but other than that you should be fine.

Hopefully it's nothing like the day-off Sakura Con people, that line was easily 3 hours of standing in line just to go see exhibitors. Waste of money BTW (Sakura Con's price of admission to just get exhibition goods, not PAX). PAX is worth the wait for sure!
We actually had the same question asked here even got the official word through BigRed.

What's the story with tickets at the door? Once upon a time, in the mystical far away city of Seattle, there was a gathering scheduled for people who loved to play games of all kinds. This gathering is known simply as PAX. Many of the pilgrims attending PAX decided to purchase their magical tickets in advance before the event even began. Many of these tickets are currently with their owners and are living a life of warmth, safety and love.
However, many PAX attendees have not pre-ordered their tickets. There are various reasons as to why these people have not pre-ordered, but that does not change the fact that there are many, many lonely tickets waiting to be loved. Much like homeless puppies at a pet store, they can be seen at the ticket booth, quietly whining and pawing at the glass, hoping that someone will come along and save them from their loneliness.
Sadly, these forlorn tickets have many more days of quiet emptiness left ahead of them. As each day begins, their hope soars. They can often be heard saying to each other "Today will be the day! Today I will find a home with someone who will love me and appreciate me." And as the day goes by...fewer and fewer people walk by the ticket booth, their hope steadily diminishes. How many times can the hope of a ticket be dashed against the rocks of time, rebuilt and then destroyed again? Who can say? Like the tickets themselves, all we can do is wait, and hope that every ticket will be rescued from their melancholy existence behind a thin wall of cold, streaky glass...
