For real. There was like an inch of water down there this morning. I woke up to a really bad thunderstorm, but it wasn't anything we hadn't seen before. For some reason the basement flooded, nothing like this has ever happened before.
I wanted to save my Wii, since I had just spent a load of money on it and had been looking for one for a while, and like I'm going to let that go waste. Only the plug was submerged (in a surge protector), and I shocked myself unplugging it. I wasn't sure what was going on at first, but my arm started shaking and tingling. It was crazy.
I haven't tried it yet, but I think it should be fine. I'm more worried about my TV, which was on the floor. I'm supposed to take it to school in a few weeks, it would suck if my roommate and I had a Wii and PS2, but no TV.
So now the rest of my day will be spent cleaning the entire basement. Getting rid of water, Swiffering the dirt that has collected, throwing out old soggy Pokemon cards and pictures. At least I was already off work for the day.
You guys have any similar experiences? Amusing comments to add?

We were all on vacation when some water pipe in the toilet or something broke and just sprayed water everywhere. All our stuff was still connected and everything.
It all worked when we moved back in.
as a kid i thought it was grand
im sure my parents were horrified
Apparently, there's a dam in danger of breaking today, as well.
It didn't even rain that hard.
How bad, exactly? I've had a few encounters with static electricity (pulling 8+ shopping carts, then touching a metal bar, feeling electricity run through me and hrghrh) but nothing like a real electrocution.
Were you wearing pajamas and strapped into a bed with men in white coats all staring at you and taking notes at the time?
I've been trying to reach you, but your extension cord doesn't reach that far.
I got to spend the day jumping around on a floor of pink "pig" hazmat soaking pillows like it was a moonwalk....me, a batty little scientist, and 3 big, fat crusty engineers.
this base has four handles peopl grab
and they press a button on the handle in turn
eventually someone gets buzzed
that was fun

Oh jesus, you're lucky you survived.
Class B Hazmat Suit and absorbant packages. When I took Hazmat Ops they made us jog 200 meters in those plus SCBA, all duct taped up too.
Yes this is what I meant.
Capacitors are bad things to touch.
the electrocution rod game thing at disneyland is better. The one in the penny arcade where you can make a daisy chain with people.
it was a pretty good shock
my arm was all shakey
two big metal handles right?
Yeah, "shocked" isn't quite the right term, but it's better than "electrocuted," which would mean it killed you. As in "executed."
I suppose I would say I was electrified?

Its just an electric shock. Thats the actual term. You can die from as little as .1 amps. It doesn't take much, ventricular fibrillation is a scary thing.

really gross burns.
people on fire.
arc blasts blowing up in people's faces.
so many videos.
so much death.

Exactly. Voltage is nothing. Amperage is king.

once again
they hate you
that would be hilariously terrible
I've seen horrific glass furnace accident videos that would make people vomit. One guy tripped and dumped it into an electric arc furnace that has three enormous electrodes. He hit the top of the cold batch, crashed through the crust, and was instantly electrocuted. Then his body became a carbon fuel source.

God I love that game. My lightning reflexes make my friends a thousand times more amusing.
