For awesome action movies: Blade, Blade 2, Fifth Element, Any old John Woo movie, Hot Fuzz, the list goes on.

Special note: Blade has the best opening of any action movie ever made. Or at least one of the best.

For a lot of fun: Ocean's 11, Monty Python and the Holy Grail (see it again), any Kevin Smith movie, 40 year old virgin

For deep and really hardcore (emotionally) movies: The Fountain, Dead Man's Shoes, 21 Grams.

If you're interested in documentaries, see Iraq in Fragments and Why We Fight. Anyone who says those aren't two of the best documentaries around are fools (The Corporation and Bowling for Columbine are #3 and #4).

Man, if you want to watch a good documentary, go for the classics.

Dark Days is my favorite, simply because being homeless seems like some insanely scary shit.

Night and Fog is probably up there as being the top 5 best. Only problem is it's the most depressing film i've ever seen, though horrifying in it's reality. Everyone should see it at least once in their lives, if only to see how truly horrifying the Holocaust actually was.

I have a hard time calling movies about boxers or some idiot director "the best". Sure, they may have been well made and very entertaining, but the purpose of documentaries for me has always been for information on important events- as well as interesting viewpoints. When the subject matter is trivial shit, it's personally hard for me to compare it to stuff like IiF or why we fight.

    One last word about documentaries.

Iraq in Fragments is honestly really relevant now. It shows how fucked that country is, no matter what happens now they are boned simply because of the people who live there. Their mentality and their religion is tearing the place apart, and as soon as we leave it will most certaintly erupt into civil war. The only sane ones are the Kurds.

It's a sad situation that can't really be helped, but at least it informs people who don't really know what's actually happening on the ground there. It shows life there in such vivid detail, how he got so close to all the action is amazing.

I refuse to watch documentaries like that because I cannot believe for a moment that they are not skewed in one direction or another.

I'm sure you could paint anti-american fundamentalists as the only sane people in a world gone mad if you really put your mind to it.

Exactly. I can't stand listening to skewed documentaries or rants, even if they agree with me. Ones that give off the "this is what I think fuck what you think" aura just piss me off

The thing about seeing a skewed documentary is that the only reason you want to see it is to validate your own opinion anyway.

You're an idiot if you really think this. I've watched documentaries that I didn't agree with because even if I didn't agree with their conclusions I wanted to see their point of view and honestly assess what they're saying. Your stance is just as idiotic as someone who only watches/reads whatever agrees with their view because you're still dismissing anything you don't agree with before you even know what their argument is.
