New painting...this didn't take too long, but I'm happy with it. This is a character from a book I've been working on for several years (5 I think). Her name is Welue, and she's an authoritarian dictator with a lot of hair. I was thinking about kimonos and formal ball gowns when I painted this...her corset is made from plastic.
(By the way, her crown is not made of gold. on the subject, though, I would really LIKE to learn how to paint gold better, so if anyone has any tips, I'd be really grateful...)
Wow, fantastic colors! I'd seen some of your more cartoon-y works on DA and took a peek at your gallery, but somehow didn't see any stuff of this quality.
I don't know the specifics of the character if she's some kind of floating spirit or whatever, but without any context she just looks very very tall

The upper torso seems odd to me. the amount of space from the bottom of her breasts to her neck seems off.
the colors are nice, and the hair is great, but the chest seems really off to me.

I like it, but as mentioned, the chest area seems off. Maybe more distinct breasts (not necessarily big jubbies) would bring some life to it. I'm not sure about the angle of the hands either. It looks a bit awkward, but it could be the design of the sleeves that creates the illusion. The sleeves seems to balloon from the elbow down.
It needs something to pop out a bit. Perhaps a backdrop of some sort.
Scoslin: yes, she's very very tall, and apart from that I wanted the dress to become more abstract near the bottom of the picture frame.
Roshin:
I must disagree about the breasts...people get very used to seeing big high-set gravity-defying breasts and I don't like the trend. Welue is not young, so they hang down a little.
You're right about the angle of the hands, I'll work on that.

Sagging breasts still have definition up at their tops. Yours look more like they *begin* a little low. Her forearms look a touch long to me. Otherwise she looks great.
you have just the *tiniest* reflection of blue on the bottom right hand side of her face..
i'd love to see that carried out - the bottom of the nose, for example..
that, or switching it to a pinkish hue since the red sash is what's closest to her face
The shoulders and arms are a little off I think, right now I can't quite tell where her arms begin. The red that flares out kind of feels like where her shoulders (which seem kind of squished) should be, but maybe I'm wrong considering her gargantuan height. But to me it just looks like the distance between her chin and her breasts is too long. Either way the red feels like where her shoulders are, kind of shouldery lookin'.
