The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
good deal. and on the subject of the beatles. I would say i prefer the monkees. because none of the monkees ever needed to go on a spiritual journey or marry yoko ono.
I was watching this documentary about John Lennon, and he fully shut down this mentally ill guy by saying he didn't write a song about him. Like seriously, Lennon picks on mental people AND marries a complete psycho. Also he's dead. Paul McCartney is the shizznizzle.

Because tonight is just like any other night. Thats why you're on your own tonight.

was this the time the guy came to his house to ask him about the song though, because i would have told him to fuck off too

the worst thing lennon did (and there is a long list):
ringo always worshipped john. I mean don't get me wrong, he had a whole lot of respect for george and paul, but john was the one he idolised. looked up to him like a god, he did.
then john goes out to an interview and says, "ringo's not the best drummer in the world. he's not even the best drummer in the beatles"
must have absolutely broken ringo's heart, and the poor bugger never did anything to hurt anyone.
(paul mccartney has apparently gone on record as saying that ringo was an excellent and underrated drummer who could play anything you asked him to, which redeemed paul to me in a period where I didn't like him much)
Lennon is bad because he doesn't entertain peoples delusions?
you know what? ringo was with the beatles for pretty much their entire career, and he played exactly the right drums to best compliment the songs. everything he played was perfectly suited, and I personally think that (especially in his later work) his drumming has a whole lot of personality and energy behind it.
I can't think of any way I'd change the drumming in any beatles song, except possibly to have a little more hi-hat (rather than ride) in the earlier recordings. but the guy was a jazz drummer at heart, so that's to be expected.

I wasn't responding to the post about Ringo's drumming, I was responding to the bit about the loonie who thought John wrote a song about him.

you know what annoys me (and I don't expect this to include any of you guys): people who ignore the beatles because they are labouring under the delusion that they're all happy clappy pop nice guys
