Because I keep reading that other thread's title as "Who is your favourite battle", I figure I might as well start this thread and see what everyone's favorite battle is, historical or fictional.
Generally, a battle is a specific instance of combat in warfare between two or more parties wherein each group will seek to defeat the others. Battles are most often fought during wars or military campaigns and can usually be well defined in time, space and action. Wars and military campaigns are guided by strategy whereas battles are the stage on which tactics are employed. German strategist Carl von Clausewitz stated that "the employment of battles to gain the end of war" was the essence of strategy.
Naval Battles are pretty cool to read about, especially The Battle of Midway.
Or brag about that time you completely dominated some noob in Starcraft, I don't know.

The first great modern battle.
The good guys fucked up bad but they still won.
Also, it ended with Bedford Forrest getting shot in the side with union soldiers all around him and still managed to get away. Nathan Bedford Forrest was a badass, too bad he was a racist douchebag.
I can't remember what it's called, which is something I'm rather annoyed about because it was awesome. Any Brits around who can help me out, because I don't want to do it a disservice by leaving out any details: there was a documentary by Jeremy Clarkson about it recently, and it essentially involved a British 'suicide' squad sailing a load of wooden boats and a destroyer that had been converted into a bomb directly into a German port down a thin strip of water.

The battle between mad max and MasterBlaster (well, just Blaster really). dude won with a dog whistle or something. And Blaster ended up being retarded. Besides, any battle that takes place in the THUNDERDOME is epic.

Remind me, can I link a torrent of a TV show that was never even released in your territory?
Because good God nobody can do this battle justice like the documentary did.
Oh man, reading about it sounds badass. Only 27 or so dudes not killed or captured? And considered a success, no less. If you can't post it, do you mind sending me the link to the documentary?
