I want to thank you all for the encouragement again. However it seems I won't be able to make it. I didn't read the fine print and it's become economically unfeasible to modify the trip to meet my needs. Both mine and my ex's ticket is non refundable and non transferable, the inconveniently located hotel(10 miles away) is only refundable partially with a doctors note, and though it was a hassle I managed to get the car canceled. Out of the 1.3k I spent on the package I'll be getting back $500 at best. To make the trip I'd have to cough up $340 to get my airline dates changed and also contribute to a room(no mooching for me) once I got there. Otherwise I'd be 10 miles away from the convention with no rental car for 7 days after PAX. I figure at this point I'd cut my losses and save what I can for a rainier day.
Word to the wise, read the fine print, never deal with Priceline, and never be bashful about splitting a vacation's cost with your significant other.
It sucks that you won't be able to attend. Though a couple of the issues you brought up could be easily solved. Such as your transport issue. Seattle's public transport is top-notch. Also, why no mooch?
And yes, my first PAX was at age 14. That was weird for me too.
