I think I'm gonna try and get a ton of people from faire to go this weekend after rehearsal. I have heard some good things about it, and Neil's been talking it up on his blog for a while now.

Seriously, I was a big fan of the book, and it was very faithful, for the most part, while retaining all of the original awesome.
The only thing I didn't care for was DeNiro. His character was great, and was the only real major variation from the book, but it was all done in a good way. It was just poor casting - his heart wasn't in it and it showed.

you could tell that
he was glad to have the break from SUPER MACHO characters

i thought he was excellent
I dunno. I just wasn't feeling it. I was never convinced by him at all. His character was fantastic, but I just don't think he pulled it off. And strangely enough, he looked exactly like my dad in this movie.
trillian had some free premier tickets to see it, and i saw it about 2 weeks before it came out
and it was so fantastic
and i am so glad i got to experience it with such a small audience

You know who would have been a better choice?
Harvey Firestein
who?
also, you know who would have been a better choice for Victoria's suitor?
Best I can tell, evil witch lady wants to steal the heart of a girl who fell from the sky because she is a star and if you have the heart of a star, you become immortal. Fantasy-style shennanigans ensue.
Also, it has DeNiro as an airship pirate and Ricky Gervais.

cary elwes
Harvey Fierstein.
Dude with the crazy deep voice. Kinda femmy, kinda butch. Also a professional drag queen, been in a bunch of movies. He played Karl (Homer's assistant) on the simpsons.

apparently he also did a voice in Kingdom Hearts 2.
I honestly never would have guessed this turned out okay. When I saw the preview I turned to the person next to me and just said "No" but if it's decent I may give it a matinee treatment.

That's what the trailer tells me, anyway.

Huh. Whatta ya know.
i guess, but too obvious

you know the one
The wink, though. That was quality.
HITCHA WIF DA COMBO COMBO HOOKS!
which is to say
almost convincing
so it was okay
Also, I found it extremely funny that
Wait, what? *checks wikipedia*
this movie?

because that was fuckin' cool
back when i was all HEY THEY ARE MAKING A STARDUST MOVIE AND IT WILL BE SO GOOD

i'm half disappointed we didn't get the zombie unicorn
but septimus was awesome
Oh hell, back then, yeah. I mean, I was right there with you man.

Where does he live?
It was awesome.
The jokes flying back and forth between theatre patrons were just as good as what was happening on the screen.
They cast a shadow like a sundial in the morning light. It was half past 10.
yeah
my girlfriend was all 'that's not how it happens in the book!'
and i just looked at her
because the screenplay was written by neil gaiman, so i kind of don't mind at all
Really disappointing at how it completely bombed though.
I'm glad Matthew Vaughn is directing Thor.
Everyone I went with (brother, brother's gf, gf's 12ish year old sister) enjoyed it a lot too
I thought Robert DeNiro was great. Also, the
i gained a ton of respect for that actor after that scene
