The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I recently got Rosetta Stone (a foreign language study aid) for assistance in a few of my college courses, and now I need to think about the hardware that goes with it. Since the software relies on voice-recognition and my laptop only has a CD drive, I need a mic and an external DVD drive to use it. I won't be at this address in a week, which means shipping's out, so my choices are more or less limited to what I can find at my local Circuit City.
Do I need to be particularly aware of what I buy here, considering that the hardware likely won't be taxed very much? My computer's a Dell Latitude D820 - I don't know the specs, if that's important I'll try to find them - that uses Windows XP, so the disc should at least be compatible with the computer. I just need to know if there's any immediately available DVD drives or mics I should particularly look for or be wary of, or if I'm just overthinking the whole thing.
