Release day edit! The game is supposed to be out today.
Picking it up online is your best bet, as it appears places like Walmart will not have it in store.
Reviews - 9/10 from IGN
One of those welcomed surprises – an unpredictably top-quality undertaking whose winning marriage of sometimes-genius environmental puzzles and beautiful graphics will suck you in. It also perfectly encapsulates what I always hope for but seldom see from third parties: an original Wii project that really makes the most of the console.
Also - 8.5 from GameSpot and 8.3 from Game Informer

One of the most anticipated games for this fall, IGN editor Matt Casamassina began the "Buy Zack & Wiki Campaign" to generate hype for it's release. It's due to be released
October 16th in North America, October 25th in Japan and sometime in October for Europe.
Here's a new preview video on Gametrailers. Here's a gameplay mechanics interview in wonderful HD from E3.Most of the information in this post came from the Wikipedia entry.
So, discuss this unique and wonderful looking game, and gawk at it's awesome concept art!

after seeing that interview, call me crazy but i think im gonna pick this one up. it may not have zelda's doo doo doo DOOOO! sound but i can settle for the monkey's "nice one boss!"
You say that as though Japanese ISN'T some crazy alien language.
I can't wait. Brutal point-and-click adventure game on a next-gen console with a fun art style and cel-shaded graphics? It's like Capcom read my mind.
Dare I hope for a resurrected Dead Phoenix?
But he didn't dismiss it. He was showing excitement for it.
If so, I'm probably sold.
This is reminding me of Gregory Horror Show (in being a Capcom budget adventure game), and that's really not a bad thing.
Plus, pirates. "Treasure Hunter Z" is a far, far better name, though.
2009 is a year of Updates - one every Monday. Hopefully. xx
Then I saw some art.
Then I heard more of the concept.
Then I read some previews.
Then they put up some video of one of the levels.
Now I'm happily going to be $40 poorer when this comes out.
Also: let this be a lesson to all of you moronic developers out there making ugly games based on PSP assets with added bloom. You're making a Wii game. If your art style isn't up to par, and you don't make your game in a pretty damn stylized manner, it WILL look like ass compared to everything else on the market. I hope that this along with Galaxy, Prime, and No More Heroes can finally pound that idea into your thick heads.
Despite that, I'll be getting this at or close to release.
i hear dewey's adventure is also pretty damn good/purdy
i'd say compared to the $60 fare on other consoles, $40 is a pretty good deal. Perhaps "budget" isn't the best word to use though.
Dewy's adventure is pretty enough, but looks just a teeny bit gimmicky and shallow.
I'm anticipating this more.
this guy sounds kind of like a tool but the video is a pretty good preview. i dont know if i'll buy it but its definitely piqued my interest.
Umm.... yeah, I wasn't dismissing it at all.
There's one thing I'm not dismissing, and it's the fact that this game is allegedly coming out this month! I think the tentative release date has been bumped back a week; previously I had seen Oct. 16, but now GameStop is listing Oct. 23, which is the same day that Ace Combat 6, Dracula X Chronicles and Phoenix Wright 3 all ship, too.
Anyway, Kotaku has some (new?) screens available. I love the hyperstylized, thick-black-outline look of the game; reminds me of what Nintendo's doing in Phantom Hourglass and Wind Waker.
Chris Kohler of Wired has tossed out this comparison a few times, too, and it's never been lost on me. I actually didn't play Gobliins very much, but that's because it was brutally hard for my much younger self. The fairly universal praise for its difficult-yet-somewhat-logical puzzles really has me jazzed, plus I automatically give anything point-and-click a good benefit of the doubt.
LOOKS SO FUCKING GOOD
this game is gorgeous. my frothing demand has gained a level!
I mean..ahem..hur...uh...*bump*
Seriously though, this game deserves a lot more attention than it's getting.
Wow, this game always manages to bowl me over with how good it looks. This stylized, cel-shaded look needs to be done more across all the platforms.
Besides, this game is already bought, as far as I'm concerned.
Yes, more so than DMC4 or RE5.
A war against my moneys.
And this game is so bought.
