Hey Lunker, what happened to the Platformers podcast? I stayed away for a few months, and now the whole site looks like ass and there's no mention of the podcast!

The Platformers imploded when a troll got banned and a portion of the userbase went nuts because they didn't want rules and the guy who owns the domain agreed with them. The people who made content for the site left and started oranjive.com.

So I've heard that the 75% of extra content in this game consists of just a couple flashback sequences. Is that true?

    FFIV DS sounds wonderful.

Not the best FF soundtrack this year, that belongs to that Wii Chocobo Dungeon game.

Seriously it's worth buying the game just for the tunes.

    and the weird card game.

Jesus, square needs to find this guy, and throw money at him until there is a FFVI OVA.

    Goddammit, no they don't.

Part of the appeal of Final Fantasy is that the characters *DON'T* look like they just walked out the latest big-eyed, poorly animated Japanese cartoon. (Note, I love FMA, but those designs in that video are awful)

If ever an animated feature was done based on FFVI, it would only be awesome if it looked like Amano's original art, like that short 1001 Nights film he did.

I wonder if there will be a FF IV edition DS coming out, since they had one for FF III DS. Though I think it was only released in Japan. Would be cool though. Once I get a DS I'll most definitely pick up FF IV DS, and probably DQ too. Never played the DQ games actually, and I never finished FF IV on the SNES (even though I own a cartridge, just never got around to it).

FF IV DS - half black half white? That'd be pretty cool.

Amanos art is only good in an "artsy" sorta way.
I.e it doesn't look remotely human or interesting, but it's stylish.

Also, square-enix did Full Metal Alchemist, so it's not like them doing a FFVI OVA/anime would be a bad thing. Not only is FMA a well loved anime (and even the dub was really good), it had a lot of similar themes from FF games. I.e main character keeps getting dicked around. Constantly. By everybody.

Also those designs were more than likely to keep them looking like an FMA character. Otherwise why else would Edger randomly snap his fingers?

Square Enix didn't "do" FMA, they merely published a few shitty games based on it.

So they're not worth checking out? I really loved the series...

They're about as good as any licensed title. If you really love FMA, you might enjoy them for a bit, but they're not very good (although I haven't tried the DS game)

I really wonder if it's mostly the PSX port from a few years back. It sure looks like it.

It is the PSX port with some added stuff (bonus dungeon with DQ8 bosses in it, afaik). There is also the PSX 6th Chapter, wherein...
You and the last boss team up to go kick the asses out of the jacksluts that killed his fiancee and led him on that whole "Kill all the Humans" thing...

That trailer was nice. And it had a reference to the awesomely terrible Dragon Quest Monsters Joker commercial.
