The question is, which game will this video be for?
Hint:Dragon Quest IV was just recently released.
I love that you can see Kain lingering in the background while Cecil and Rosa are having their little moment together. Love triangles FTW!
I've never really understood that whole aspect of the game. I mean, sure, it seems to be there, somewhere. You'd think the evil mind control would be enough to explain Kain's motives.
Fuck if you play FF II SNES the only real hint of the love triangle comes from the ending. I hope this is part of the expanded scenario the game promises to offer.
Also, DQ IV is out. Has the additional chapter from the PSX version and is about 80% translated into English. Probably a good summer release and a must buy for me.
It always seemed pretty straight forward to me. While mind-control was definitely involved, it was implied that part of Kain wanted this to happen, as it gave him an excuse to be near Rosa, by way of kidnapping her earlier on. I believe he even said as much during the Tower of Zot incident, just before you had to fight Valvalis.

The fact that part of Kain wanted it to happen, probably made it all the more easier for Golbez to get his magic hooks in him, plus it made him an obvious choice for those hooks.
This one has some spoilers, I suppose. They'd be kinda hard to notice if you haven't played the game or if you don't speak Japanese. Still this is fantastic.
Holy shit at the FMV battle versus the element guys. HOLY SHIT
2:
Still not a fan of the actual in game graphics, especially adult Rydia, but I suspect this will not stop me from buying the game as hard as I possibly can

OMG... OMG... OMG! This is my favorite FF. I think all my dicks just cummed and all that stuff when I watched that trailer. This will be amazing.

Ya. I would replay this one. I still remember bouncing spells off a spell barriered person in your party and having it hit the enemy. And then beating the king which was a huge pain in the ass. I did cheat to have unlimited gold back in the day but it only affected the ninja guy who I could buy tons of those ninja stars.
And that cave where you couldn't use metal weapons. oh the pain! the frustration!

exactly
It allows you to understand how Kain could have been under his control without being an altogether weak and helpless character
So FFIV is definitely coming to the US right? Is DQIV? I'm so lost.
Well frankly, I'd be somewhat surprised if Square-Enix released DQM: Joker and DQH: Rocket Slime to the United States and not DQIV DS. That would be madness. MADNESS! Apparently theres even a beta translation in the Japanese DQIVDS version that is accessable using action replay codes.
I think its fairly safe to argue we will see these two games and more in the next year.

What I don't want to see is making these games far too easy. I'm really sick of them taking old rpgs and remaking them into something I could easily sleep through. Final fantasy 1 and 2 pissed me off because it was easy sauce.

I don't know how to respond to this.
The games weren't easy. You just knew them too well.

I disagree, at least with the remake of FF1. It is indeed far easier than the NES/PSX version. First, leveling up is much easier. Second, everything costs much less gold. Third, changing the magic system from casts per spell level to a unified MP system made a huge difference in the utility of Black and Red mages. Being able to nuke the fuck out of everything instead of having to save all your magic for bosses was a huge nerf to the overall game difficulty. Fourth, the addition of the equipment available in the bonus dungeons made the standard stuff seem laughably weak.

Hmm, I suppose you're right. I was thinking more of the remakes of 4, 5, and 6, where I knew every little trick and hidden chest and blazed through them all with alarming speed. Even just knowing that you can use Rods and Staffs to cast spells in 4 was a huge help, despite KNOWING that the game was harder than it used to be.
Also, to further elaborate on just how much money was spent on the Japanese voices, at least:
# Kōichi Yamadera as Kain Highwind - AKA motherfucking Spike Spiegel, among others
# Ryo Horikawa as Edward Chris von Muir - AKA Vegeta (not the voice I would have picked but it works)
# Rie Kugimiya as Palom and Porom - AKA Alphonse Motherfucking Elric, Shana of Shakugan no Shana fame, and Louise of Zero's Familiar
# Tesshou Genda as Yang Fang Leiden - AKA the Optimus Prime of Japan, and he's also the go-to man for dubbing Arnold Schwartzenegger and Sylvester Stallone in Japanese
# Ichiro Nagai as Cid Pollendina - The Narrator in several very major shows, Mito from Nausicaa, and the Japanese voice of Albus Dumbledore
# Banjō Ginga as FuSoYa - AKA Liquid Snake, and also the voice of Worf in Japanese
# Gorō Naya as Tellah - AKA Lord Yupa in Nausicaa
Cecil, Rydia and Rosa seem to be voiced by relative unknowns, but the rest of the cast is pretty heavyweight.
And reading this list filled my idea with at least one awesome idea already. You people realize who voiced Lord Yupa in English, right?

I really do remember the time when the only map on FF1 was "Tceles B" (brooms talking backwards in matoyas cave.) Having skipped 4, 5, 6 only because of lack of time, This one is so bought even if it is a lesser difficulty.
Bringing the conversation away from the drool-worthy FFIV remake:
I was checking out this review of FFXII: Revenant Wings and was wondering your guys' opinion on the game? PA's opinions are usually worth more weight than any reviewers even though I enjoy the reviews at gametrailers (concise and not egotistical or arrogant sounding).

FFXII: Revenant Wings - get or skip?
It's a pretty good and fun simple RTS game with FF XII flavor. That's about all I can say about it.

Palum and porum both look like girls now
Since I don't think most people here are anime fanboys, I'll list the most commonly known one:
Goblez?
Being played by Chairman Kaga.
HOLY SHIT!
This right here is the least likely of all release scenarios.

It's so weird that they haven't announced anything about this for the States yet.
Doesn't that usually not come until after the Japanese release?
