Heavy Gunner: can pin down enemies and shoot through walls.
Spec-Ops: good for infiltrating buildings and killing pesky snipers.
Demolitions: good for killing choppers, and good in close-combat.
Sniper: excellent for pinning down enemies, and for taking out fortified positions.
Everybody has a purpose, and some are definitely better-suited than others in certain maps (sniper is basically useless in Domination, while the spec-ops excels, whereas the sniper is king in Overgrown and the spec-ops is not nearly as effective). I haven't found any balance issues so far.
Lag, however, is an issue. I'll be completely sure I killed someone, and then when I get killed instead I watch the death cam and the fight is entirely different from their point of view. A lot of the time I don't even fire my gun.
I've never had lag so it might be on your end, also you can create you own classes which lets you use the add ons you get form leveling you gun .
EDIT: Anyone on right now?
I'm aware that you can create your own classes, and I don't know if it's me or not, but whenever I get lag, I hear complaints from other people as well.

It's honestly pretty hit-and-miss depending on the server with me.
Most of the time I get amazing connections with barely-noticable to no lag.
And then sometimes it dumps me into a room where everybody has a single red bar.
Agreed on the lag. Two nights ago I was playing in a game with pretty bad lag in place. Last night the connection was smooth as silk with one or two minor exceptions. Very hit or miss.

We met him few days ago in a server and he added us all to his friends list. He is a roof camping god among man and he NEVER shuts up. If he doesn't say something specific he will say "Hold this grenade with your face for me,will you?".
I love crazysnowman---we should get him on here--klyka, me and him were basically annoying the piss out of everyone for the entirety of last night

Yeah, I tried telling him about the forums, be he was to occupied with shooting RPGs into people's faces.
He is definitely someone you should add to your list for a cool guy to play with. Beware his mouth though, as I said,he won't shut up and I know a lot of people are annoyed by that.

Perk 3, deep penetration or something like that. Goes through anything (so vacant should look like swiss-cheese after a match), not sure on multiple layers though.
Does anyone know how the specifics of auto-assist work?
Read somewhere not to move the left stick after it activates & something about a reticle when you hit the enemy?
(Tried looking at CoD-forums but dear god I could not find a single thread with any kind of good info regardless of subject).

One of my favorite kills was in Overgrown this morning. I grabbed the mounted machinegun in one of the abandoned houses, fired one small burst into the wall of the house next to it and nailed a guy.

I'll be jumping on the beta in about 15 minutes. Usual suspects, get ready, cause it's KLYKA TIME.
I was playing on Vacant, and me and 3 other teammates where in that fucked up house just in front of the tower. We where on the 2nd floor doing some good business cleaning house out the windows when somebody on the other team opened up with a SAW with Deep Penetration. He didn't even bother aiming, just sprayed the entire 2nd floor and managed to kill all 4 of us.

Can't seem to get past this either. It happened the very first time I booted up the game after I downloaded it and when I came here to complain about it, it finally went through...I hope it works again.
Edit: I quit the game and when I went back in I didn't have to download.
Played some fucking great games tonight. I went 31-12 on Vacant and had like four airstrikes. I kept killing this poor level 1 guy who kept spawning into the airstrikes or spawning right near me after getting killed by me moments earlier. And lost a game in Overgrown but the battles outside the barn were intense. I play this so much better than Halo 2 I hope I can play half as well in Halo 3.
I have a feeling I am in the verge of a RRoD and planned not to play my 360 until Halo 3 came out, until, I got my CoD4 beta key today from Eurogamer. My priorities have suddenly changed, a RRoD is a risk worth taking I think.
Played waaaay too long getting used to this game. It is excellent. When you're doing well, it's just so rewarding to get the UAV, find more people, get the airstrike... ... okay, I'm still trying for the helicopter.
How do I call airstrikes? I haven't gotten 5 kills in a row yet, but I know how to turn on the radar for a bit but hitting Right on the D pad. But, if I do use the radar, does that mean I can't use the air strike?
Also... I can usually get about two kills or so before biting the dust. I thing I'm playing it too aggressive, but I'm just trying to get a feel for it and don't think I'm really playing any differently than the rest of the players.
Any tips?

When you get your 5th kill, you activate the Air Strike just like the UAV. It'll pull up the map, and you have to select a spot to drop the bombs.

Keeping in motion was how I got my 17 kill streak (which I thought was pretty darn impressive by my standards), you gotta keep moving, its an extremely fast paced game, even as a sniper. And don't dismiss the knife, it's your best friend in close quarters, most people tend to blind fire, but what I do is I line up my sights, sprint, and lunge forward with the knife for an instant kill.
If there's anything I've learnt, it's that the spray and pray technique doesn't work very well here, unless you're a light machine gunner, then your task is to lay down covering fire; else, remember to line up your shorts, stay calm, and fire in bursts.
I also cannot emphasis enough the importance for team work, so remember to flank, out flank and things like that, and if there's anything I hate most, its when someone UAVs moments after I UAV, you have to time your power ups and work as a team.

I've taken to using sub machine gun with the extra health and the extra sprint. Basically, running into position, finding out where they are, and simply rushing them. I can take an extra hit or two, can run extra far, and the sub machine gun is actually pretty versitile.
Is anyone else experiencing the phenomenon of regularly being better than the rest of the server? Excluding 1 or 2 people I regularly play with I am very rarely not the leader in kills or KDR
i wish the stats would be more expansive and have pages for each weapon (disregarding the challenges). I knife a lot, and would like to know just how many hundreds of people i've shanked so far.

That made me smile.
I got 42 kills 9 deaths on that round. First by about 15 kills.

I'm on too in 15-30m, (note: I just barely sometimes hear chat (regular headphones plugged in not speakers, so Live headset isn't worn). Thats what I usually use on Vacant.
