[Game On] Halo 1 PC! It's like Halo 3 divided by 3!
That's right errebodee~!
I just re-installed Halo PC (Number 1, not fancy-pants 2 for PC), and I want YOU to play with me and some other dude(s) from the Halo threads.
If you got it, reinstall NOW and we'll totally hook you up.
Also, if I figure out custom maps, we will play Halo on de-dust, you bet your ass.
I will add names here and the server name once we get some games going.
Not trying to site whore or anything but I got an email the other day that gogamer.com has this on sale for $8 just thought I'd tip you guys off.
My main desktop is down atm but when it was up I was having install issues (like uh it wouldn't install) while under Vista. Not sure why though. I'll have to give it another shot when I get this RMA mess done with.
Haven't patched it at all though, are there even patches?

I used to play this online a lot, mainly for race mode and CTF.
CTF was always fun when the majority of players weren't even trying to, y'know, CTF. They'd just run around fragging while I was...flagging? Does that even sound right?
So it seems my Halo files are corrupted somehow, and after removing the game and reinstalling I get the same issue.
I gave up and downloaded the demo, which is Blood Gulch only.
If you guys just want to mess around in the demo I will make a room with a password.
Let me know guys.
(The demo is avaiable easily, just google it).
Man, I really wanted to play Gerophobia.
This game deserved a much better port than it got. Have they improved the netcode at all? I played probably around 100 games online when I bought it, and I doubt I found even one that wasn't a disappointing lagfest (keeping in mind that every other online game I was playing at the time worked just fine).
First game I played was on the shittiest version of Blood Gulch Ive ever seen, with ridiculous amounts of turrets, vehicle spawns, fuel rod guns and overshields littering the map, with damage turned up... And to make things worse, it was a laggy mess...
But god did I forgot how much fun sniping in Halo was.
While the game certainly has some shitty netcode, particularly vehicle physics information, some of it isn't actually 'lag' at all. Remember that the port was designed to make a lot more decisions server-side than most FPSes, such as CS. So, if you think a dude is at position X, and running towards Y, you can't just shoot them where it looks like they are, but rather where the server thinks they are - a few steps ahead of where you see. I can see why a lot of people don't like that sort of arrangement, but it did render aimbots completely ineffective. Once you spend a bit of time with it, finding the right lead distance to aim at gets a lot easier.
I was flipping through my binder of games and passed by this. I may install it to relive some of those gearbox maps that are so awesome.
Riding gunner with the flag driving under a bunch of rocky overpasses as a banshee chases you and shooting it down right at the end of the tunnel and having it crash right in front of you is run-on sentence and gaming goodness. I wish I had made a video of that.

I am having issuses and it's getting on my nerves (Installed but freezing up on me....wtf...)
Bugs and human textures aside, this game is still pretty.
Awesome game, though. Even Halo 2 has never recreated the insanity of 32 player Blood Gulch CTF.
There's a mac version, but they require different discs.
I'm going to try some stuff and hope to join you guys soon.
Sorry about this.

edit: Well, the patch worked when it ran the auto update when I tried to connect online.

I might have to reinstall it then... after I finish Bioshock/Persona 3.

No more of that.

I looked so hard, because I got an itch for it a week or two ago, and I simply could not find it.
