PAX noob question thread

I'm a noob to the concept of the PAX, but there's no denying it's getting bigger each year. Nintendo's presence there only sanctifies it.

With a little motivation I decided to go [if leaf will have me].

Here are my questions. I may have more as it draws closer. Any other noobs feel free to post your own questions for any veteran attendees to answer:

:?: How does one register for the tournaments? Do you register online prior to the expo, or at the expo?

:?: In the Smash Bros. Melee tournament are you only allowed to act one character throughout the tournament

:?: What else occurs at the event besides tournaments? Give me a basic summary of this expo if you can.

    I'm not big with video game seminars or Dungeons & Dragons. Seattle itself would be nice though.

    It's just three whole days of Dungeons and Dragons, and a crawfish eating contest

    The Smash Brothers Tourney only filled up because there were only two spots available

    It just doesn't seem like it'd be your thing, Glub Glub.

    You can sign up for any tournament at the expo before the tournament starts.

    I have no idea about the smash bros question, its probably answered or should be addressed in the sticky'd thread about GAME RULES.

    In addition to tournaments, D&D and crawfish, many major game companys will be showing us cool stuff and handing out some neat-o swag, including Nintendo, WHICH YOU YOURSELF MENTIONED. there will be musical concerts of all shapes and sizes, gamers to meet (who all apparently hate you) and free console and PC rooms to play with said hating gamers.

    Oh yeah, and about PAX, half the fun is getting there. If you're on the west coast of the U.S. there's a Supertrip with your name on it.

    So instead of not coming because I can't enter the Smash Brothers tournament I should not come because no one wants me there?

    Eh, I'm not so sure. The kind of behavior that gets you {jailed, outcast, hated} on a forum could be rather endearing in person, especially after a few beers. Plus, PAX is small yet and can use all the attendees it can get. I'd suggest attending anyhow, despite what these assholes say.

    Things to bring if you do want to be endearing in person.

    -Clean clothes (esp. underwear)
    -Stick deoderant
    -A good attitude & sense of humor
    -Cash (nobody likes a mooch, and you'd be amazed what buying someone a beer can get you out of).
