There are a whole lot of threads where people complain about driving, here is where we complain about our own stupid mistakes and our own stupid piece of shit vehicles
so i guess i left my lights on, or the air, or the radio, left something on, so my battery dies, simple enough?
it's 11, i just got out of work and i don't have jumper cables, so i go back into work and there is one kid with cables so he comes outside and tries to jump my car.
to be honest, i've had my car for less than a year(brand new 98 camry), i've never jumped a car, i don't know what to do, but he has evidently done it a bunch of times so i let him do it.
he revs the engine, i turn my key and try and rev my engine, nothing, he switches the cables, and tries again, revs, this time the electricity goes on, alarm goes off, all my lights on the dash turn on, so i turn off my alarm and turn off the air and everything so i'm not killing my battery, and i try to start the engine, but click click click click click, no dice.
now this is where the bad idea comes in, i tell him it's not starting, so he takes off the jumpers and switches them (pos and neg), and asks me to try, he revs the engine, nothing. evidently, this is not good for your car. he gives up drives away and i call my dad, he comes. he just tells me to rev the working car's engine and he'll try and start my car. my car turns on, even gets my engine to start first try
thing is nothing works, nothing, not even my headlights, just my parking lights, the dash lights don't go on, nothing goes on. the engine is going, and then out of nowhere it stalls. my dad jumps it again and tries to follow me out of the parking lot (with my nonworking car) but it stalls again and we end up pushing it into a parking spot
evidently either my alternator or battery is done (or this is at least what my father thinks). best case scenario is it is only a 150 dollar problem. I, however, am extremely broke, on top of that, i have to buy books for college, so my credit card is looming over my, teeth grinning
so yeah this is me bitching and complaining how you have to blow a ton of cash because of some shitty mistake. (150 dollars is a lot when you are dirt poor)
So i am sure you guys have much more expensive problems you have experienced. Do tell.

My worst screw up was in my '70 ford f250, ran out of gas on the freeway at night,with no power steering it took my entire body weight to turn the steering wheel to get off the road.
but i havent installed them so i guess i'll be returning those...
because i was kinda busy i suggested calling security (he was in shopping centre parking) and everything worked out for him
ive never jumpstarted a car before even though the cables have been sitting there for a while. never come across someone with a dead battery
but that very same night i went to my car and noticed someone parked behind me was having trouble starting his car so i turned around and gave him a jumpstart
just thought it was kinda weird that the only incidents of dead battery would happen within a few hours of eachother
then i was feeling kinda good and drove over to find some new building where i had an exam shortly afterwards and it was dark and raining and the road just before it was slightly uphill, peaking at a roundabout with the building on the other side with what looked like some parking spaces
so i drive up to this roundabout figuring i would go straight to park the car and check the building out but what happened is i drove straight into a curb
it was not parking and there was no road on that side of the roundabout but i couldnt tell cos i had never been there before and the curb was hidden by the hill on approach to the roundabout, and then by darkness and high levels of water in the gutter when it should have been in view
yeah some of my battery is burnt there was sparks etc when he was trying to switch the cables around

yeah while i was driving out of my community i accidently put my ipod on my seat, and when i made a turn it flew inbetween the seats, so i looked down to grab it and hit a curb at about 20 MPH, popped one tire messing up the rim, hurt the other, 250 dollar mistake, this was a few weeks ago
i've been working like, all summer, and it is barely covering the cost of my fucking car payments and mistakes
really this is why all i eat is gummy vitamins and tostitos and still end up losing 5 pounds a week

yeah i did this, my dad is quite knowledgeable about many things and as i said he got my car started first try, just things are too fucked up to be able to fix right then and there

Well you did lose a lot of versatile solutions for modern living.
i have about the directional capability of a rock, not even a pointy magnetic rock, a round stupid rock
but the connection for one of them is a little loose so sometimes it will just cut out
and since those speakers handle all the bass it an be pretty uncomfortable having these low frequencies off centre

and the teacher was one of those guys who goes off on tangents and talks about random shit like scifi movies and such
and he was talking about how they make tanks out of depleted uranium because its so tough and protects the soldiers from shit pretty well and shouldnt be too reactive anymore

it is hard to find a time when i wouldnt mind having no car for a few days or so
my dad can do it at his work but itll take a bit longer which is a pain
gotta arrange with a friend to make sure that we get drunk the whole time since i wont have to drive otherwise its pointless
also theres this mad cute girl at work and if shes gonna be there on my next shift id like to be able to offer her a lift cos i think maybe the bus comes an hour later
