What's a McJob?

edited August 2007 in Social Entropy++
I was in McDonald's earlier today, and noticed that they've started a petition to change the definition of a 'McJob'. I think this is ridiculous, and that the current definition of “an unstimulating, low-paid job with few prospects, esp. one created by the expansion of the service sector” is perfectly accurate.

McDonald's' problem with the definition is that it is degrading to the hard-working, dedicated workers in the service industry. I disagree. I say that while the workers in these jobs may well be hard-working and dedicated, to say that they have good career prospects, a stimulating and/or a highly-paid job is insulting and misleading. I feel that this definition needs to be kept.

    Yeah, I know.

I find it completely laughable that anyone would think they could change the definition of something in the OED through petition, to start with. It's obviously just a marketing stunt. And I'm drawing attention to it!

I don't really intend to do anything with this. I just thought I'd come at it semi-seriously instead of saying 'HAY GUYS, MCDONALDS LULZ'.

Some McDonald's are better than others.

The one in my town is fairly decent, although the one in the next town over does a better job of it. Some of them are insanely terrible though.

i always eat them, gag, and say, why did i just eat that fry

as a matter of fact, i once asked for two cheeseburgers and a drink from the dollar menu and the dude went "well you can just get the me-" and i was all, "no, just give me those three items", and he was all "but the meal-" and i was like "i don't want your shitty fries thanks"

Or if you are extremely cheap and think paying $3 for fries, burger, and a drink is a good deal even if it's just kind of mediocre.
