i guess i have to play this game to understand it, cause the videos make no freakin sense....

Do you move on a track or sumthing?

More like you move along an axis, upon which enemies progress toward and along your position, which yeah, makes it look like you are moving forward through the tunnel-esque levels.

I'm a bit confused about the charge meter, though. Is that the same thing as the power-zone, or whatever? The area of play that's between you and the advancing white line?

    Yes.
My only complaint is that in the later levels, it does become genuinely confusing - Not in a "what's going on?!" sense, but more in an "I can't see anything" sense. Up over level 10, when I was trying to knock down some of those flowers, between the glowing flowers, the swarms of enemies, and the bright, huge, flashing score numbers floating over the field of play I couldn't see any incoming bullets. I just died without knowing why multiple times. Those score counters are the worst. I always think they're bullets.

See, the thing I think many of the reviewers are missing is that the not being able to see easily is intentional. On some of the levels you need to rely on various tricks to figure out what's going on - for example, paying attention to the sound effects, positioning yourself in certain places on the grid for greater visibility or when all else fails, using your bonus jumps to see the map more easily.

I had a couple moments in my most recent session when everything clicked and I was on an insane roll and man was it glorious. :)

I don't think it's intentional that you need the sound effects... maybe the visibility and jumps. I think it's more a case of knowing what's going on when you are in The Zone, you know? I certainly enjoyed the game, the guy from OXM is a complete moron. I would say he was on drugs, but that would make the game better. Perhaps he wears a suit to work every day.

The only thing I don't like/understand about the game is the bullet-juggling. If I can shoot bullets, and my... giraffe... shoots constantly, how can a bullet ever hit me? This is exascerbated by the fact it's kinda hard to see what's going on ;)

Fucking lol, look what somebody randomly posted in a LJ discussion about a different videogame.

"I also hear rumours of furry porn in Space Giraffe."

I told you I wasn't just pulling out of my ass. I mean it may not be true, but the rumors are out there for some reason or another.

Space Giraffe is a treat, and Street Trace is surprisingly good. Really. Once you upgrade your weapons a lot, it's a ton of fun.

Also, Minter mentioned in some interviews that purchasing the game updates the visualizer with some new patterns. Is this still true?

I tried space giraffe. I dont know how old/young or high you need to be to enjoy this, but Im not there.

Street Trace seems fun. The closest other game I can compare it to is Tony Hawk: Downhill Jam on the Wii.

It's a simple hoverboard/combat game. Simple customization of your board/weapons are available. The graphics are ok. The racing isn't that great. I think the combat is slightly better. Before deciding to buy it, I remembered that I do have Tony Hawk: Downhill Jam, and I actually enjoy that a bit more so I'll try to finish that before buying a similar game.

I had no idea what was occurring in space giraffe.

What's the function of the line..and 90% of the screen?

It was humorous-a winner is me

So I guess you didn't bother reading the tutorial at all?
    and 90% of the screen?

You mean the background? To look pretty and trippy.

They explained it, yet I'm not certain I comprehended it.

    I've not purchased this yet.

Apparently J. Allard commands that we all buy this game. I enjoyed the demo, I'll probably pick up the full version whenever I finish Bioshock.

Street Trace was boringly generic. Does it offer 4 player split-screen? That might redeem it.

If anybody is looking for something similar to Space Giraffe, I suggest Tsunami 2010 which is still pretty damn trippy, but looks less so than SG. (It seems to work perfectly under wine in case any linux users are wondering.)

Man, I was Tempest 2000 die-hard fan, but I have yet to find the zone in space giraffe. Getting told that my scoring is "meh" doesn't really help.

Anyone got a hint for scoring really high? All my scores are about half that of the suggested "good" scores, and the best I got in the tutorial were about 6 Million, not the necessary 10 for the achievement.

Man, I'm scared that I'm getting to old for these kinda games. I'm not to old, am I? AM I?
