When it started, yeah. But it didn't go off of PBS until I was 9, and I loved watching it.
I remember every science teacher using this shit to teach.

In April 2006, angry audience members in Waco, Texas stormed out of a lecture Nye was holding when he stated that the Moon reflects the light of the Sun and does not emit its own light. According to some Christian fundamentalists this contradicts the Book of Genesis

This is both hilarious and incredibly disconcerting.

A Bill Nye drinking game seems as though it would be a little weird. I mean, you're talking about cherished childhood memories that are being combined with alcohol..

    Wait, that would be awesome.

The key difference between Beakman and Bill Nye is that Bill Nye is actually a scientist, and not a fictional character played by an actor

also the whole giant rat thing

and I could swear to god Beakman's female assistant was simply replaced at some point but my memory's fuzzy

She was replaced. She actually got a couple decent acting roles.

She's actually quite pretty for a midget.

The hierarchy of kids' science show hosts is thus:

Mr. Wizard > Bill Nye > Beakman

That's not to say that Beakman was bad. Yea verily didst I enjoy Beakman's World. It's just that Bill Nye and Mr. Wizard were better.
