You have no idea how EVE handles collision detection and therefore you have no idea how long or how difficult it would be.
Sure, maybe it's a good idea.. But you have no clue as to the cost.
It pisses me off whenever someone la-dee-da's a code change.
Because collision detection is not at all a problem with standard, easy-to-implement solutions.
^ This. No matter how you do it, at some level you are drawing bounding spheres between potentially colliding pairs of objects, and then between polygons if you want to get really technical. The trick is to try and minimize the number of times you do this.
fake edit: You can also use cubes and ellipsoids :v
Personally, I suspect that the EVE server has a team of referees and linesmen in each sector who manual look for and spot collisions between different objects.
It'd certainly explain a few things. Especially if they were sleep deprived and drunk.

I dont know about you, but anything that increases module and action lag? Fuck do that, i fucking love it when i cant target my enemies!
I think the new patch is going to include a 'Lag me!' button that you can press if you are loosing a fight which will lag your client to fuck so you are guaranteed to successfully petition any losses.
Once that's implemented we won't need to use work-arounds like drones or torrenting hentai.

I repeat.
You have no idea as to the cost of making this change.
Maybe you know how collision could be done. Maybe it's the same strategy they use.
But you have no clue whatsoever as to the actual implementation or any of the surrounding context.

That's why it's called a troll. Nobody would have responded if he had simply posted "We are all ignorant in various fashions," but this way he gets a response.
So, I've just been switching skills every few days, recently... but EVEMon has been reporting the server going down, like, every few hours for the past couple days. Is this true? It must be completely unplayable, right now, if so!
I just recommended the game to a friend. This isn't a good first impression for him. :P

I really don't see why they don't code it so that if you want your drones back quickly and now, you select return and orbit, and in that particular case, the command tells them to come back one at a time with a slight delay, going from no 1 in the drone ui list to no 5.
Then when they're on their way nicely staggered so as to avoid hitting each other, you hit return to dronebay.
I don't think that would involve any kind of complicated collision detection coding. It's a basic delay timer.

(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.
So, I may be coming to join you MerchI guys. I haven't played since July of last year when I was in Fleshreaper. I just have to get this whole "Activated the wrong account" thing sorted out.
I am starting my journey into a 24 day long skill training session starting tomorrow. Astrogeology V. All part of my quest to be a miner. I'll try do do some other stuff during the next month but that one is where the bulk of my training time will be spent. I suppose I will be done sometime before Halloween when I factor in all the detours I am sure I will take. Crazy.

The ironic part of the pissing match earlier is that you're correct, as was electricitylikesme, and it's an easy example to both illustrate and prove.
If you've never tried it, go out to the max range you can control your drones from and tell them to return to the bay (do it a few times to get a feel for how long it takes). Now do it again, but tell your drones to return and orbit. Your drones will return quite a bit quicker as they won't be bumping the fuck out of each other on the way back, since they'll be aiming for different points around you to orbit (allowing them to fly on seperate paths) vs the center of your ship (all on the same path).
It depends on the lag, but in small-gang pvp I never have my drones return to the bay if I'm scooping/dropping them, I always return and orbit then scoop as it's much quicker. Obviously in lag I just tell them to return.
Is there anything that would hinder me from immediately slapping on cloak after a gate jump? I feel retarded, maybe that's what I should have done when I got blew up by a camper in some amarr BC last night. Tried to just see how fast I could warp to the fastest object I could align to and the fucker instalocked me.
Only problem I see is right after I cloak he has a general idea where I am and just goes RAMMING SPEED.

Yea, that's kind of how it works. You cant cloak until you uncloak from the gate jump so there's always a second there that they can see you. And usually by then there's an interceptor flying at you at 6k/s to decloak you.
Best is just to use a scout or try other tactics like mwding back to the gate.
He was playing undock games so I pulled his standings and then he sat there and melted. Protip: Barrage isnt a good ammo choice for angel tanking ravens. That's why I'm below a fucking lachesis >:|

If you have a cloak fitted: while still cloaked from the jump, figure out what celestial object/safespot is closest to your current alignment. Click in space to align in that direction (just like a regular warp align in a gang) and then IMMEDIATELY click on your cloak and THEN your AB/MWD if you have one. That will give you a boost up to speed, the cloak will slow you back down, and you will align while you are cloaked and unlockable. As soon as you are aligned, turn cloak off and hit warp to your target - but NOT AT ZERO, optimally choose a random distance like 40 or 85, but an oddball dist like 70 works in a pinch. If you can, warp to a cluster of celestial objects so it is hard to tell where you went, and then as soon as you get there repeat the same process - hit cloak and AB/MWD and start moving away from the warpin line, aligning on something else in case you have to bail again.
Hey, I just activated a trial account, since WoW's PvP isn't really a good pvp experience. I figured I'd try some intense space combat. Running through the tutorial and initial missions now, but when I'm done that I'll be putting in an application to MerchI.
Just a quick question though... With my newbie ship, should I upgrade it? I've done the tutorial missions and gotten the bonuses for finishing them fast, but I don't seem to have enough money to really buy anything, and the next missions I can accept are putting me against people who are just picking me apart. Any suggestions? Or just train up better ships and try to buy one?

You don't keep 2k or so of EMP with you?
Forgot to change vOv. I was too busy undocking and setting his alliance neutral so he couldn't dock back up.
I felt a great disturbance in Eve, as if millions of Gallente suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened to the Myrmidion.

Join MerchI , ask nicely and someone would likely give you the ISK to buy something that doesnt suck.
Oh, wow, that's really nice of everyone. Also, as I am a little... ok, alot, new, can anyone tell me the difference between Skill levels and ranks. For example, I have Missile Launcher Operation Rank (I) level 4. Do I need to train up to level 5 before I can get to Rank (II)? I can't find any skill books that are Rank (II) of anything.

There isn't a rank two version, the rank is basically a measure of how long it will take to train. A Rank 1 skill might take 3hr to train to level 3, a Rank 2 skill would take 6hr to train to that same level, a rank 5 skill would take 15hr to train to that level, etc. A rank 16 skill would take oh god fuck this.

I... oh, I feel foolish. I was cursing myself for not figuring out how to upgrade something from Rank 2 to Rank 3. I didn't realize that the GoonFleet wiki meant Electronics 3 meant level 3 and not rank... .
Thanks for the help, this should really make it easier for me .

I just hate it when people talk like electricitylikesme did.
I'll keep it on-topic in the future.
You mean with knowledge on the subject? Yeah I hate that too.
Only if he doesn't play the game, which is entirely possible.
He does, I've seen him around a bit in the newbie channel.

I'm intending on creating a character named Ergandar, or a combination of its syllables. Gallente trader/combat drone guy is my character idea.
Question: Which skill is required for warp stabilizers/items of that nature?
2 days 9 hours
