If my bank wasn't so weary about letting me use my debit card to pay for this, I'd rejoin in a heartbeat. But noooo...they're afraid of Iceland, apparently, even after I told them that, yes, I know full-well who CCP is. And I really hate the idea of using my credit card for this (stupid interest).
:sigh:
I might buckle and sign back up anyway. Philos Draxx misses his pew pew.

Joined the corp, and I'm currently sitting on the edge of Empire space, screwing up my courage to brave the looong, fear-filled journey thru 0.0 to 77s (19 jumps until GS-sovereign space). I actually went a couple of jumps in last nite. The wreckage of those who'd gone before littered the stargate in N-RAEL, and I realized there ain't no stations out there and nowhere to dock, so I turned tail and returned to Konora.
So, should I risk flying down in my Caracal, or should I just sell it and podjump down? Any help greatly appreciated.
This is one of the reasons why I avoid using credit cards -- I suck at figuring out what I'm actually paying interest on (that's right, folks, you can rape me financially in EVE!).
Here's the thing: my credit card already has a decent-sized balance on it. I pay a certain amount towards it every month to put a good-sized dent into that balance. Instead of taking $15 away from that amount, by subscribing to EVE with that credit card, I'd rather tie EVE into my checking account in order to keep paying off my credit card with the same monthly amount. Putting an extra $15 towards the credit card to keep my nice, round monthly credit card payment intact would be like paying $30 for EVE...not very enticing.
Back to the credit card -- since it already has a pre-existing balance from previous purchases, wouldn't anything else I buy with it be subject to the card's current interest rate as well?
Also, and this does tie into EVE, anyone mind explaining escrow to me? I've read of escrow scams in the game, and would like to protect myself. Feel free to PM me so the thread isn't derailed.

depends on how your card issuer calculates interest.
If they provide a 30 day (ie. one billing cycle) 'grace period' to payoff new purchases, then as long as you increased your monthly pmt by the same amt as your Eve pmt it'd be a wash - it'd be exactly the same as if you paid them separately.
If, OTOH, your issuer adds new purchases in before calculating interest, then you're right - you'd be paying extra interest.

The lesson being that you should never incur long term debts on a credit card in the first place.
At least I can get into a Black Ops ship pretty quickly once they are released, unless they change the requirements insanely. Can anyone explain, do they just jump themselves, or can they open bridges to move small fleets?
I've been in Grand Cayman for the last couple weeks and haven't been able to read much into anything at all.

True. But I didn't have much of a choice. A good chunk (about half of my balance) was to pay for surgery for my dog.

Hook your good buddy deadtear up, I'm gonna need fittings for MY NYX in a couple months.
ahahhahahahah no
Actually if you're looking for a loan I'd consider that, was going to keep an eye out for bigger loan requests from people who have a history of not going "fuck goons" with them like Rodent, so... PM me on GF.com if you're serious.
I was seriously considering setting the goal of getting:
1) a real good carrier/mothership character (10-12b?)
2) a carrier (2bish with fittings?) or a mothership (40-50b with fittings?)
I think the character and carrier would be doable by the end of the year through poker/ratting alone (leaving enough to keep playing big stakes poker), since I'm in Black Ops and don't lose ships ever. The mothership would obviously be a much longer grind but I'm working on a Power of Two datacore account, so as long as the games didn't dry up I bet I could do that by May or June.
But this fighter nerf is retarded and unless they back off of that or seriously buff them logistically I probably will just get the character and instead get a....

I believe you need a covert ops cyno in the destination system (which probably won't show up on that system's overview), and you can then open a jump bridge for any ship with a covert ops cloak (cov ops, recons, other black ops battleships, or the new black ops ewar frigs) or you can cyno in yourself.
But I'm not sure. It's been awhile since I read the little information we've gotten, and it's all still in development so it could change anyway.
One day it'll just be Blacks Ops-swarm. People will just rat pubbies and an invasion will be defined by 50 Goons being perma-logged in your station systems.

So since my carrier skills are all done now I decided to go ahead and finish training recons, HACs and command ships before finishing up siege module and upgrading to a phoenix. I like to be versatile.

I'm somewhat taking the same route, but not doing the dreadnaught thing. T2 Drones (yes, I pilot a carrier without T2 drones currently), HACs (Ishtar), Command Ships or Black Ops.
Still need to patch up some odd end skills, but those can be done when my training times don't fit my work schedule, etc.

My debit card has finally been accepted again, so I'm back in. Downloading the client now. I think I left off training cruiser skills (I'm slow...I tend to train skills in a broad fashion). Yay!

Maybe I'll get somewhere this time, if I revive my account
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
Sorry, I got a couple e-girls already :shobon:
Have you met Goumindong?
That's been wanting to come off my chest for a while anyway.
Wonder if I should crosspost it here.
Goumindong brings the problems of real world economics to policy making to EVE in ship-fitting form.
You can, it's glorious. Gotta remember to start training that month long skill the day or two before your account dies tho!
Speaking of, my second acct finishes training Cruiser V in 2 days. Should I take the character straight to MRCHI or do the pubbie-spy thing?
goddamnit riese, when we said stop using the other phrase, we didn't say come up with a fucking retarded one

We don't take kindly to furries 'round here. Ask Siddy.
Or maybe we do. With all the new allies, we'll probably be recruiting White Wolf soon.
Since when does Auckland = furries?
Baah means no?
Oh, so it's that old sheep-shagging schtick! Well you- you... Bastard, I don't know where you live!
Reveal your nationality so that I might mock it!
French! :winky:
I'm going to assume you are Australian.
Fucking Australians.

my ingame name is Frobozz Jack.
Why would a carrier pilot need those!?
