It's actually "intergalactic christ", IIRC. That was a great song, by the way.
On another note, this is the first time I've ever seen anyone complain about the amount of dialogue in an RPG, especially a western one. Come the fuck on, he likes Planescape Torment. I didn't even think ME had a lot of dialogue compared to past Bioware games. Just seems like a completely nonsensical comment.
It's funny, but I'm used to reading tons of crap on the PC but I'm not used to doing it on my Xbox360 (moreso now that I'm addicted to Marketplace content). I am finding a lot of the reading in ME a bit annoying but if I think back on RPGS like Baldur's Gate, ME doesn't really have that much. One difference is that reading and listening are two different things. I enjoy the exceptional voice acting in ME but you do reach a kind of STFU and get on with it state at times that doesn't exist when you are just scrolling and clicking through text.
Mass Effect has more dialogue than Baldur's Gate, and its all spoken. Baldur's Gate does not have much at all.
In any event, if I wanted to hear trolls, I'd browse /v/, not going to watch this.
I meant BG2 and it had plenty but I've got a ways to go in ME. My point though is that there is a perceptual difference when you are listening to things.
Baldur's Gate did not really have much dialogue either, it had about average for a traditional RPG, Mass Effect has more.
Mass Effect did a good job in that not only do I not want to skip it, but I actually can! Man I would have killed to be able to skip more dialogue in FFX.
This is true. It took me a while to get a hang of combat and I got wasted a number of times in each of the parts of the battle against the first boss I hit. Once I discovered the X button things were much better, although I fear (I don't really know if the fear is founded or not) that X-ing the boss dialogue might default to a different outcome than I am aiming for.

Don't forget that when you're tapping X, you still have control of the dialogue wheel even if it hasn't shown up yet. If you hold the direction you want (say, Charm at the top left) on your left stick, it'll choose that when you hit X.
But, it didn't, and that was my problem with it. He didn't even mention the hacking and boring UCWs, which was what most people seemed to hate the most and was by far the most obvious flaw.
Yeah I'm surprised he didn't discuss the stupid hacking and the technical issues at all, really. Maybe he kept it brief? Anyway I quite agree with the review. I liked Mass Effect but being on my third playthrough, I'm thoroughly sick of it (my fault, I know) and every little flaw in the game is exacerbated.
There's always romicide, if you need another reason.
Jesus fucking Christ. How is this guy not being mocked to oblivion by the entire internet? Not only is his webcomic devoid of funny, but this, and the lawyer stuff is pretty fucking abhorrent.

There's nothing of consequence that could ever happen to Buckley outside of some insane nerd running into him at a convention and smashing his hands with a stool.

I'm not sure if you've watched any other episodes of his, but he rarely (if ever?) does a comprehensive review of everything he finds wrong with a game. It's common practice for him to latch onto a single/couple/few issues and limit his comments to just those issues. I mean, love it or hate it, it's what he does all the time. Expecting something else from him isn't really reasonable.
I don't know, he seemed pretty comprehensive with Bioshock, MOH, Halo 3 etc. Then again, I only played Halo 3, so maybe I'm wrong.
ED can be funny when talking about the incredible drama of the internet (it also got me jailed, but nobody cares about that). I'm happy the forums I go to aren't mentioned on it, although some of them are big enough that I would think they would be (such as Bungie.net. Yes, I know it's full of drooling idiots).
There's actually very good reason to hate Tim as a person, too. He's like the grinch, pre-heart expansion.
Especially considering that Academic Use means that he was not infringing upon Buckley's copyright.
Edit: The only thing that could be considered infringing is that he posted it online, but a simple request from Buckley would've solved that. Instead, he acted like a fucking twat.

The problem, I believe, is that you can read text ALOT faster then it can be spoken. When a speech isn't interesting you, it really seems to drag on and on.
As much as I hated to admit it, I think he does have a point. Once your using speech instead of text, you wanna pare it down a bit to keep it from dragging. Written =/= Spoken, as any writer can tell you. What works on the page doesn't work on the stage*.
*Wow, that rhymed and I didn't even see it coming.
And I know I'm going against grain here, but a lot of the voice acting didn't do much for me at all. Wrex is, of course, awesome, and Tali's accent is fun, but for the most part...eh. Though Anderson had some fun lines, and I did enjoy some of the Ambassador's angry bitching. Better than average, to be sure, but not exactly OMG. But I think a lot of that comes back to what they were saying.
Also, the Canadian accent kept jumping out and poking me in the ears.
So THATS who that guy was suppose to be. I just figured he was made up but now (even if it isn't suppose to be Buckly) when I put his face on it, it makes more sense.
I mean in his own comic the man has made himself his own holiday and a religious figure, can't get much more ego then that.

Actually, he said he just got on better with Western RPGs, but as he clarified oh his website he didn't like Planescape much either. So there's that mystery solved. He just hates RPGs.

Only difference I guess is that Gabe and Tycho do it ironically.
Exactly. That was a joke, and the news article that accompied that strip made it so everyone KNEW it was a joke. Where as CaD he just makes himself the center of the freaking world.
Well and it was Gabe, who usually is doing "Ha ha, he's so stupid" things, and this is clearly intended to be one of those stupid things. I've never seen one of those CAD, but I assume that it was Ethan or something, which as the obvious manifestation of the writer (like Tycho) is more serious.
Oh wait, I was wrong, it is the crazy character that has the holiday. But it doesn't really matter because Winter-een-mas is just fucking stupid.
Sorry for double post. Back on topic, I'm surprised Yahtzee just hates RPGs. I would think that he would like them since he likes Adventure games so much.

And Gabe and Tycho DON'T THREATEN LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THEIR FANS MAKING HOMAGES TO THEM.
In fact, I distinctly remember them posting a cool video that someone else had made that featured a slideshow of Armadeadon to "Loneliest day of my life." They encourage it.

OH SNAP.
oof.
Pathetic.
Fucking...
What the hell.
What the motherfucking hell is wrong with that guy?
God.
I cannot imagine any point in time when anyone would ever think that was a good idea.
My rants just got a lot easier.
Man, I love Mass Effect, but that ripped open every little flaw perfectly.
Edit; oh shits, new page hang on, lesbians;

If there's one thing I like about Encyclopedia Dramatica, it's that they know how to catalog internet drama.

I think we can all agree that Mass Effect for all its flaws is still a very good game.
Most people don't beat games that aren't good.

Didn't he say at one point that he has a love of Western RPGs? Because I'm pretty sure he did.
Does anyone have the picture that Gabe drew of Buckley?
This one?

He even half-asses ripping off Homestar Runner.

Explain the rip-off. Winter-een-mas seems like random garbled shit spewed from the mouth of an idiot.
