i had this teacher in high school who went to show one of his other classes a taped PBS special on marine life and ended up accidentally mixing up his tapes and showing them raunchy ass porn.
he never lost his job or anything but oh crap did word of those events sure travel around the school fast. people pretty much leapt from his class screaming it down the halls
there was another teacher in the school who got canned for screwing a student
she had already graduated, but apparently that's still not cool or something?
she was in first year university when they started seeing each other. word got around, the PTA set up a huge stink over it and he got fired.
I really don't get why teacher-student relationships are so bad as long as everyone's legal. How does is that even different from relationships that occur at work places? In fact why is it ok to have a relationship with a co-worker and not your client =P

One of my history teachers used to make up reasons for girls wearing tight jeans or short shorts to have to move to the front of the class. What was really creepy was he was also the girls soccer coach. We're talking a 50 odd year old greasy, bald, jowly kinda man. Brrr. I think they finally fired him though, he was a terrible teacher.

NotACrook, I'm simply implying that not all cases are the same. I don't know about the school systems in the States or whatnot but take this example that is totally not eww and still breaks the "teacher-student relationship -> you get fired" standards.
Out of my uni's class teachers over 50% are students themselves. What you are saying that if a person that's a third year student couldn't have a relatioship with someone two years younger than him/her. And as far as I think if people are open about their relationship there's no conflict intrest because then clear playing with grades would then be noticed. And to clarify further, I was only referring to adult students.
