Last weekend I went to the national gallery in D.C. and got to see a The Last Supper by Dali in person. So far that's the best painting I've ever seen. Dali combined techniques that all the impressionists before him used with amazing skill at painting realism in portraits in still lives to paint everything he saw in his vivid imagination.
Monet is always classy. When I lived near philly, i would go to the philadelphia museum of art about once a month to check out the stuff he had there. Never got old. Also, running up the Rocky steps, knocking voer little kids that get in my way.
some guy spends a whole lot of time making one crappy picture and gets credit for it but we should be telling them to draw another 21 frames if they want to entertain us for even 1 second
portraits are the worst
people all 'wow it is so realistic he is so talented'
yea great just ignore all the work that went into designing cameras
im sure the camera engineers love it when people pretend like there is no use for a device that lets anyone make a picture instantly
they are all standing around saying 'yea it is much better to have one guy spend weeks on one picture that is the best way to do things we should not have bothered making a camera'
one birthday i was out with friends and there was some busker and these 2 japanese girls were talking to him like he was gonna get somewhere with them and then this japanese friend of mine went up and spoke to them a bit in japanese and then suddenly they joined our group and left the busker there disappointed
and i thought 'why would you do that to the guy' but also 'haha sucker we dont even want them they are ugly'

basically some fools will go and look at some portrait for a while pondering how well it captured the subject but with the right tools you could go put up a big photo of these people right there while they are still looking at the painting
and then say 'shit this only took like 12 seconds total but i think i captured your art fagginess pretty well dont you think'

OT:
Monet has been a favorite of mine ever since I was little. His use of color was very impressive. Jules Cheret is another French favorite. Not a 'fine artist', but still remarkably talented.

When I was in Melbourne a couple weeks ago, I saw a space invader tile and I was so very excited by it.
very few people understood my excitement.
