Mega Snake: Sci-fi movie + Michael Shanks = Good?

http://www.gateworld.net/news/2007/08/shanks_stars_in_sci_fis_mega_sna.shtml

So it looks like the guy that played Daniel Jackson in Stargate is in this movie, and it's coming on at 9PM (pacific and eastern) on sci-fi.

From the website:
"Mega Snake," according to SCI FI, is "the thrilling tale of a serpent with supernatural powers unwittingly unleashed upon the residents of a small town. Before long, the reptile grows to a gargantuan size, wreaking havoc on everything in its path. When the snake threatens the lives of a group of children at a carnival, it's up to Feedback to save the day!"

Shanks plays Les, a paramedic who is afraid of snakes, who must save the day. "Mega Snake" airs Saturday at 9 p.m. Eastern/Pacific. Watch the promo now at SciFi.com.

My first reaction when I saw this in my program guide was "great, another crappy snake movie", but then I read about this. Do you think he'll make as good a world-saving paramedic as he does a world-saving egyptologist?

    No.

This really depresses me, after I saw him on 24 I thought Michael Shanks would go on to do good things.
    Guess not.

Are you kidding? Nothing about this sounds good at all. A giant magic snake that threatens the children? Yeah, no thanks.

It could make a good tongue-in-cheek, B-movie comedy, like that movie with the giant spiders that attack the mining town. Except I kind of remember that movie sucking.

    So no.

I have to watch it, simply because they have the guy, feedback, from who wants to be a superhero in it. Its like watching a car wreck.

    Wow that was...

    Hmm.

It certainly wasn't unwatchable. That assumes it was designed to be watched anyway.

    But seriously.
What the fuck was with Feedbacks cameo?
"Ok, you walk on set, teach some kids, make some bad one-liners, and walk off."
"Then I come back and fight the giant snake?"
    "No."
    "...I...save more people?"
"No, you're pretty much a shitty superhero who just ditches everyone and lets some civilians fight a snake."

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. It was kind of boring.

It's going to take watching at least 3 good movies to get the bleh out of my head. :(

I guess maybe he was right all those years ago that Stargate was stunting his amazing career potential.

    ...

    Naw.

Michael Shanks can do no wrong.

    Okay, maybe a little wrong.

    But I love him.

He's got some thing planned with Christopher Judge, if I remember correctly Shanks will be playing the roll of Satan. That sounds promising.

I heard about this and got really excited, but I'm not sure what's happening with it. They're both very good actors, and I think this is even cooler in light of the fact that he was hired for SG-1 mostly on his resemblance to David Spader.

Scifi Channel debuted a movie called Ice Spiders. ICE FUCKING SPIDERS! How could this movie have been good? It's just not possible.

Scifi Channel original means will suck goat dick. It's practically in the fucking dictionary.

There really is no refuting this statement. Sci-Fi will never ever make anything good. The best they can do is their original mini-series like the triangle and 5 Minutes to Midnight. Those are watchable and entertaining, and are 100% genius brilliance compared to garbageshit like Savage Planet.
    But still not amazing.

Well I enjoy Ghost Hunters, but that's reality (well kind of) tv, and doesn't fall under shit movies. I mean under Scifis banner I actually started not liking Bruce Campbell after the man with a screaming brain and that horrible alien movie.

I think you're getting confused between James Spader and David Spade. One is the man who is currently in Boston Legal, the other is the one who was in Joe Dirt.
