Hulk: UD is probably one of the most underappreciated last-gen titles. It's probably one of the best superhero games ever, and easily the best modern one.

I have very high hopes for this. I just hope they don't rush it out.

I know we already had a disagreement about the quality (or lack thereof, depending on your point of view) of this title in another thread, but I really wanted to make a counterpoint to your statement here.

Unfortunately, I got nothin'. I can't think of a single quality superhero game. Holy shit, Hulk UD may actually be the best we can get.

Strange. This sounds interessting, but just the fact that they used the word "parkouring" somehow makes me want to dislike this game a little bit. Is "jumping" not hip enough anymore?

Spider-Man 2 was awesome for similar reasons to Hulk:UD, but not quite as good imo.

I think both games really captured the feel of being the respective super heroes really well, it's just more fun being Hulk.

Yeah, my first thought was that I personally had more fun with Spider-Man 2. But it was only a great web-slinging simulator. Everything else was total shit. So as a superhero game, it was a failure. Even though I didn't really enjoy Hulk: UD, I have to concede that it was a better game overall.

The only great games that I can think of that use comic book characters are the Capcom fighting games, but those aren't really superhero games either.

    So you mean.. Assassin's Creed?

    I'll get my coat.

I'm one of those that really wants to hear more about this, because it sounds awesome, and I'm liking all the whole free-roaming stuff that's coming along this generation.

How can you not enjoy a game that involves smacking guys with a lamp-post as they drop out of a helicopter? :)

Who said they didn't? I never played it, and still want to pick it up some time, except I just don't make enough time to play the games I already own. Spider-Man 2 was great for web-slinging though, but I had to put the rest of it wasn't so much fun.

    So, this sounds awesome, but...
So, for example, in that playable [demo] you saw there, you can be parkouring over a car and another car gets flipped over that car and it's coming at you [at] 50 miles an hour and you parkour over that second one
... am I the only one who thinks that's reaching a bit? I mean, everyone was amazed at what AC could do with just the scenery; it sounds a little ambitious to extend that to airborne vehicles and stuff. Of course, if it's true it'll be amazing, but... yeah.

Clearly the solution is to buy:

    Another TV
    Another Xbox 360
    Another Copy of the Game
    An Ethernet cable.

Now providing you and your roommate don't mind not eating for a month or three you should be sorted!

:Edit: Although there's a possibility they could not include system link, in which case subsistute Ethernet cable for Xbox Live subscription.

I agree, I'd love splitscreen play with any game like this (Crackdown would've been awesome with it), but I just don't see it happening unless the game itself has to take a major hit in quality to do so, and I don't know that developers would be happy to do that.

Not to derail, but I wouldn't be shocked if Microsoft actively discourages developers from including local mutliplayer.

I mean, besides Rock Band and Guitar Hero, what other games have it?

Also, the use of the term "parkour" is fucking pretentious. Just say "jump" or "flip" or whatever.

Sorry in advance for noobing up the thread ;o

I haven't really digested any hulk related material since Lou Ferrigno and the cartoon of the same era. I've seen some comic covers and was like - "oh he's grey now?" - but haven't read any, or seen movies etc.

What's with the blade-paws? New trick?

Also ( no sound at work probably not helping ) is the premise to just romp around and be a huge cock? :D Or are the army mans bigger dicks?

Haha, no no. I get the confusion, but this is "The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction" with gore. This game doesn't actually star Hulk, it just shares a bunch of gameplay elements with the previous really neat Hulk game.

Also, the Hulk is red now.

I hate the use of "parkour" for stuff like this since it's also known as "free running", which sounds much better (and not French). Although it is ironic that the there is a specific word in French for a different kind of running because of the whole "French always surrender/run away" stereotype.

    I think it's funny, anyway.

But for reals, this game has both the pedigree and gameplay to be far, far too good. I love Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, but it always got under my skin that the city was pretty small (well, pretty small for the Hulk, anyway). Getting a big, full-scale city in which you can tool around in is always fun and this just goes ten steps farther to include awesome things like absorbing memories, biomorph weapons, stealth, etc.

I really, really hope this comes out awesome. And soon. But preferably awesome over soon.

I'm going to reiterate what was said because it is important.

    Goddamned important.

Split-screen co-op is badly needed. If not in this game, then in video games in general. I'm a bit sad that we get co-op in games now, but only through the interbutts.

Sure, some co-op is better than none. But I actually have friends whom I see, in person, that can enjoy games.

I'm just tired of co-op being cast aside all the time when it is probably the funnest form of multiplayer in games. Competitive multiplayer is hardly ever worth it if you're just putting out some random FPS or shooter because it likely isn't balanced nearly as well as those games that starts out with multiplayer in mind, and yet that seems to be what we get 9 times out of 10. And the only local co-op game I have to look forward to is a derivative EA-published game that is likely horseshit.

Back on topic, this game looks great and if it's anywhere near as good as its predecessor I may have its babies.

Couldn't they just put some kind of mobile zone in or something? So that both players have to stay within a certain distance of each other. You'd have endless bitching about it, but at least it might allow splitscreen co-op.
