I wonder if publishers basically force devs to show off games that aren't ready for prime time just to see if there's any interest in the title at all, to see if they should bother to continue funding it.
We have seen the game in action before and it looked better, I think they just wanted to show off the scale, size and style of the city. I bet the final product will have tones of post processing and "next-gen" pretties.
Dyack isn't really the same situation. The last game they put out was a launch window gamecube game, and Too Human gives Duke Nukem Forever a run for its money in the "troubled lengthy development history" stakes.
The teaser and hype for this game was bullshit. I don't think this will be a Daiktana or anything, but their strategy was going in the same direction.
And using "free running" and "parkour" to label everything is stupid. Those words are just irritating to me now, because people feel the need to point out what it is every single chance. Some douchebag teenagers in france learned how to do acrobatics. Bravo.
"Hey guys, that super hero jumps from this roof to that roof. He must've been inspired by parkour!"
I'll wait to see what infamous brings to the table.

Everytime I see the main character run around or jump or do a leap over some cars I say to myself:
THIS is how Spider-Man should move in the games.

I knew there was another reason why I bought my PS3. I just couldn't remember what it was.
This is it.

Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!
Well it's also coming out on PC as well, so I'm happy
Assuming it's not a Spider-Man 2 esque port. I.e., completely unlike the acclaimed console versions and just generally a bit shit.

Prototype on the PC is actually about a friendly helper robot who becomes sentient and must escape from his inventors. He eventually befriends a middle-class white family and ends up improving and even saving their lives.
It's the same for the Wii version only that the robot is actually a dog and you can pet him with the wiimote.
He was surfing on a person. He was surfing on the street with a person as his surfboard.
THAT IS AWESOME.
I wasn't excited about this game 'till GT did their little "Most anticipated games of 08" and mentioned it was the Hulk:UD guys and that it was going to kick ass.
You can punch through a guy's head without it feeling satisfying, just like you can have a game where you just do plain old punching that IS satisfying.
I dunno, gameplay looks pretty decent, but red flags go up every time I hear some random ped or enemy drop the f-bomb, especially if it's in a trailer. Nothing against the word fuck, but it's like they put it in their so that slack jawed 15 year olds watch the trailer and go "Oooh he said FUCK. This game's gonna be AWESOME," as their eyes go O____O.
I'm fine if it's part of a scripted part of the game, cutscene, etc. There's just something terribly...trashy about hearing someone yelling fuck as you sprint by or whatever. It would be akin to some random extra in the background of a movie yelling 'What the FUCK' in response to the lead's actions. I dunno.

I'll still probably get the game.
I don't know, if some dude ran by me at superhuman speed after turning his own arms into bone blades and cutting some dude in two and punching through a guys face I'd probably drop an F-bomb too.
Everything looks really light and ....... well floaty.
Theres no beef to it.
They should get epic to lend them some of the Gears of War 2 tech.
You spelled 'Monolith' wrong.
I've not seen the video yet, but I understand the complaint. Same with firing a gun, some games do it wrong, and all you're doing is clicking on dudes to make them dead. Others (F.E.A.R.) do it right and make it a tactile, kinetic experience. It's a tricky thing to quantify, but games like this can benefit massively from that kind of feedback.
I was making a joke about how one of the tech demo's showing of the Unreal 3.0 engine enhancements made for GOW2 was that they can render big cubes of meat.

FINE!
Still though, Monolith know how to make shooting someone in the chest with a shotgun, or batting them round the head with a pipe, feel far more realistic than anyone else's efforts that I've seen.

I can only digest so many sandbox-y havoc simulators... Ive got interest reserved for GTA4, and some for Hulk:UD which i own but havnt gotten to yet. After that I might be getting full.
Im seeing this as meh, but Hulk may change my mind. Right now it looks like AC morphed with a Disturbed music video.
I think the game looks amazing! I've been waiting for an open world game that let you move about the city like that with super powers (The Spider-Man games come close) but still let you destroy whatever. I'm totally not using guns though unless I have to. The melee combat looks like that's where it's at.
Hulk: UD is probably one of my favorite games of all time so I have high hopes for this.
And I give insane amounts of credit to the devs for deciding NOT to include multi-player. I dont know if it was already discussed here (I just skimmed the first couple pages, than skipped here), but when asked, they said they looked at it, and decided in the timeframe they have, there isn't time to do it right, so they're just not doing it this time.
More devs need to realize that I'll take an awesome single player game over a pretty good single player game that's only 'pretty good' because they took time away to tack the poor multi player game on to it.
Also I just got Hulk: UD from Goozex but havent put it in yet. Very excited to make some time for it.

Yeah It's kind of annoying how many games have shitty multiplayer that adds nothing to do the game. There is nothing wrong with making a solid single player experience and ignoring a mulitplayer aspect.

Limed for extreme truthfulness. I really wish that more developers would take this to heart and stop gutting the single player aspect for a half assed implementation of multiplayer.
What I'm waiting to see is whether their early promises about how the story is going to work hold true. Getting it in bits and pieces, through absorbed brains no less, makes it sound like it could be unique. I'm all for a collect-them-all type vibe that involves brains.
But that kind of non-linear storytelling sounds hard to do, and while it could be awesome if they pull it off, it could also be disjointed and useless. I know it's easy to see the game and say hoodie? Giant blade arms? I'm in! And that's why I'm getting it, but if the story is good then that could push it over the top.

Like in the hulk game, where you got objectives to capture or destroy and stuff.
