Yes, I know there is already a fighting game thread. I don't really want to ruin their grand conversation about those old timey fighting games. A bunch of letters and directions with a certain character that will 70% the lifebar or keep people in the air forever. I'm talking about a sub branch of fighting games that are on to its own, the licensed anime fighting game. There have been quite a few good ones lately from a sub genre once most hated. I'm talking about the absolute boat load of quality anime fighting games this fall. I'll start with what I think are the best and work my way down. Also, feel free to talk about any I forgot or any other ancedotes about this sub-genre.
First off, the one I'm probably most excited about
Naruto:Clash of Ninja Revolution (Wii)
For the longest time I was lead to believe that this was an up-port of N:GNT 3, a most excellent fighting game, with some mini-games and waggle. I was WRONG. It is actually based on an improved version of the EX engine but with characters from the first 100 episodes of the first series. IGN really likes it, and says that for the month or so it is out before Smash it will be the best fighting game on the Wii. Awesome.
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (Wii/PS2)
The sequel to the hidden gem of the Wii's launch, but with even more characters, the complete story from DB on, and finally, online for the Wii version. Looks even better than before, with a better framerate and better thought out motion controls. Lots of really obscure characters in this one like Nail and King Vegeta. PS2 version has a Sonic and Knuckles esque lock-on mode, but with disk swapping instead. Unfortunately, the PS2 version is not online.
Bleach:Some subtitle I can't remember(DS)
Bleach DS. Yes, the crazy online Treasure fighter game. In English so you can read the cards. Nice.
Bleach(Wii)
Bleach on the Wii. I've not heard anything good or bad about this game. Feel free to inform me if you know differently.
Time to add some stuff that is not coming out this fall.
Naruto:GNT 4: I really doubt this game has any chance of coming out in the states because of their redesign of EX, this game is the pinnacle of fighting games based on the first Naruto series. An excellent game, one which planetgamecube once declared "better than Smash." They are wrong, but it probably gives Soul Calibur II a run for its money as second best fighting game on the Cube. Seriously.
Jump Ultimate Stars: Will never come out in the US. Gives Bleach a run for the DS fighting game crown. Smash Brothers with Jump characters. Online. Import it now.
EFZ: Remember I mentioned that this thread wasn't about traditional fighting games? Well, this one looks like it plays like one, but like most games suggested by Aroduc, full of Lolis. Possibly a bullet hell or two as well. Video:

Hell, I'd be fine arguing that EFZ was better than all of those.
Doing a Kamehameha in real-time and seeing it reflected on-screen is also one of the more satisfying actions I've ever done in any game.
XBL: Torn Hoodie
@hoodiethirteen
Act Cadenza is pretty much a traditional fighting game in comparsion to these.
Also, This thread doesn't have enough loli bullet hells in here to post. I don't even know what EFZ is.
I've had more fun these past two years getting my ass kicked in Naruto and kicking some ass in DBZ to care. For awhile those two games were beating out Melee as my most played fighting game.
That and the (surprisingly rare) Ranma 1/2 Hard Battle are all I own.
Getting both were more out of fandom at the time than either being any good, but they have their moments.
I can't argue with that, but I think I needed to rewatch the series for that... I couldn't get into BT2 but it was cool to be able to mimic the moves and have them acted out.
True Story: Three of my friends and I owned DB:GT Final Bout on the PSX...years before DBZ exploded. We liked Dragon Ball and we liked the beam fights. When the price spiked to about $140 or so we sold them and celebrated like kings for a summer, and then bought another copy of the game from a local mom and pop video rental place for $4.99.

Okay. What the hell. Is this like... Loli: The Fightening?
whoa, that is some amazing music in the video. is that from the game, or something else?
This was pretty much my impression of it. Can't say it doesn't belong in the thread though.

Also, Big Bang Beat is pretty fun.

Wii U NNID: MegaSpooky
Also, HG101 did an article on the Ranma 1/2 SNES fighters, for some reason.
The most interesting part of Sailor Moon Super S: Various Emotion, aside from the music and backgrounds(Saturn's is a destroyed future), is the opening. The original animated one, not the horrible CG one.
Regular AND cyborg.

My biggest beef with the series are the reused sound assets from .hack. That and the fact that specials take a week. This is a fighting game, not FF VIII.
Magnificent. 8-)
It's a fighter from 2002ish based on characters from Key games. Kanon, Air and One were all made into shows eventually. Most of the engine is borrowed from Guilty Gear.

The music's a remix of something from Melty Blood. I'm not 100% certain what, but I've hear about 8 different versions of it in various places.
Yeah, that's exactly why I waited. BT3 is the last one, though, so it's a good as time as it's going to get.
Goddamn it, I can't believe they aren't releasing it for the 360 though. I sold of my ps2, and don't have a wii yet. But to be able to play the DB saga..man, that's actually quite tempting.

I'll also add the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure game:

Wii U NNID: MegaSpooky
edit: apparently there is a special bonis character in revolution that hasn't been in any of the previous clash of ninjas.
Specifically the second one. I still have all the voices for the menus and stuff stuck in my head, I definitely went through them all multiple times. Forever in my brain is engraved: "Burichi DS sekondo." The subtitle for the 2nd one is kokui hirameku requiem btw.
It's a hybrid of 3,4 and the Wii Japanese exclusive EX.
Question for anyone else who owns it, what is your team like? I've been sticking to the series I'm familiar with (naruto, one piece, etc) for now, 2 main characters, 2 supports and a bunch of helps. Do you use the most powerful forms of each character, or a less powerful form and more support/help?
Simply the best boxing games ever. Gamespot's 2001 "Best Game No One Played," Hajime no Ippo: Victorious Boxers had most of the "advances" touted in Fight Night 3, but half a decade earlier. The sequel, Victorious Road, expanded with one of the most robust career modes in the genre.
A Wii version is due out Q4 2007, Japan only.
And I don't mind the Naruto dub. It was bad at first, but it has really improved.
I heard it was more of a brawler. Also, why go for something that's aping the style when you can go for the real deal?

Scarlet Weather Rhapsody

It'll have both english and japanese voices.
Like I said in the second message in this thread, it will also have a one on one fighting mode with online play.
Being able to whup random people online with Hinata will be worth the purchase.

Though with one of the trailers using one of the japanese intro songs, I'm given hope.
