The summer is winding down, the days are getting shorter, and motherfuckers love drinking next to trees, it would seem. And so we, as intrepid pansies and panty-waists, set out with thin tents and ice chests full of illicit beverages, burn some shit in a circle of rocks and we consider this communing with nature.
This is a lie. What we are actually doing is playing the waiting game. Sitting patiently, next to our beacon of flame, awaiting the moment when we get raped by a bear.

So, what say you good sirs and daughters of the supple bossom of Lady Northwest? Shall we sit around a firepit and roast marshmallows and then throw flaming marshmallows at a tree to watch it stick and burn and then fall off and then we panic and step on it and then we've got flaming marshmallows all over our shoes?

Possible locations:
Silverlake Park, Whatcom County, Washington. Nice place, great concrete gazebo thing we can all hang in and have a huge fire with a great grilling area and bar, nice lake with canoes and paddleboats available for rent. Absolutely beautiful area, and close to a town so it is easy to run in for more supplies as needed.
Deception Pass State Park. "This state park is located at beautiful Deception Pass on the west side of Whidbey Island. The park featured 4,134 acres with almost 15 miles of saltwater shoreline and six miles of freshwater shoreline on three lakes. The landscape ranges from old-growth forest to sand dunes." Sweet.
Olympic Penninsula campsites. I don't know these very well, but I'm positive there's some awesome ones out there. The penninsula is fucking rad, but would mean either a long ass drive or a ferry ride.
Baker Lake road campgrounds. Lots of places to choose from, some with better amenities than others. Good hiking in the areas, scenic and fun. A few of these may be closed, I know Rassar is open (but only okay) but the Rockport campground is closed due to hazardous trees. What the fuck, you pussies.
Other possible sites I know a few other places, but look around here and see if you see anything else that looks worthwhile. I recommend Silverlake Park, it really is a very neat place.

May I suggest Deception Pass State Park? May be a bit of a drive for some, and the weather is a crapshoot (always.), but it's a well-maintained park, hot showers, man-made Cranberry Lake fishing\swimming, nature trails & bike paths over the sand dunes, and 3+ miles of awesome beach...can walk all the way down to the naval base if you want.
And some rock walls.

Also, I recommend pretty much everywhere in the Olympic National Park. The Elwha and Altaire campgrounds are especially nice. There are tons of day hikes (including one to the natural and undeveloped Olympic Hot Springs), a calm river for rafting, and two swimming lakes 10-15 minutes' drive.
But I really don't care where we go. I am all about this.
