Moments of the Week 8/29/07

edited September 2007 in Graphic Violence
It was a slow week, but a quality one.

The Last Fantastic Four Story had some amazing visuals and the storyline was pretty crazy, but something awesome was that they included the "Plot Outline" for it in the back of the book, showing how Stan actually did The Marvel Method.

Avengers: Initiative 5 had a lot of awesome parts in it, some of which I may scan later. Everyone in the book has great lines.

I was so fucking worried that they'd fuck that up. I'm glad they didn't.

Although I did like how when Gryich was going "See! Stamford all over again!" Not one person went "Yeah, because the Hulk is going to do more damage if a bunch of idiot kids attack him". It's also becoming increasingly clear that they are fucking with all the kids psychologically, and probably medically as well. If they are all clones, I'll be kinda pissed.

He's basically whatever you're afraid of I think, so he can be about as strong as your fear. Later in the issue
Hulk wipes the floor with him no matter what fear he turns into because apparently Hulk isn't afraid of anything anymore.

Circe did all of the shit she did to get back at the gods for not helping her when Ares took their child, the Amazons are mind-wiped and scattered across the world, and it turns out the New Gods took out the Greek Gods and Athena has been Granny Goodness through this event.

My favorite moment of the week was in WWH: X-Men
The short interplay between Hulk and Monet. Then Hulk says "Go be invulnerable in Jersey" and proceeds to punt M to New Jersey.

I stood up and lol-ed when I read that.

I didn't cringe at any of the dialogue

There is not nearly enough Teen Titans love in this thread... that issue was PERFECT from start to finish, with a SHIT ton of Young Justice stuff thrown in, AS WELL as the return of the
    Titan's Tomorrow

There is no comparison... Teen Titans freaking owned this week.

    Yep.

A lot of Amazons Attack was uninteresting, but I have to admit, these changes to the status quo of Wonder Woman's world make a very interesting set up.
As surprising & cool as the New God/Greek God cross over is, I'm really interested in seeing if they're going to make new characters out of the scattered Amazons. It's like "No more mutants" in reverse. A whole bunch of potential heroes created instantly.

The thing that bothered me with that was why get close to these people? What are you expecting to happen if they accept the offer when yo can't actually carry it out?

Avengers Initiative. I didn't know how I would like this book, but I'm having a blast so far. Trauma is definately turning out to be one of my favs.
Though I am wondering what happened to MVP, since he showed up (?) in issue 4. Also, I'm wondering if they're going to bring Armory back since they mentioned her name.

    So Black Panther was awesome.
So was WWH:X-Men. I like how Hulk used Juggernaut's powers against him instead of going toe-to-toe with him. Also I was hella surprised that Cessily got through to him where Rick and others failed.

Emma was holding him back. Even though Charles is way stronger, telepathically, think of it like we think of paired muscles: a crocodile can crush your skull with the muscles that close its mouth (group A) but even a young teen can hold most crocodiles' mouths closed, i.e. by overpowering the muscles that open its mouth (group B). Similarly, while Charles would have been able to resist any mental efforts by Emma if he was already 'active', she held him back before he could try, I believe.

Oh shit. Just the other day I was going through wiki trying to find out whatever happened to her. I was a big, big fan of YJ, meaning I might have to pick this issue up. Of course, since I can't go to the comic store for a few days, I would appreciate if someone would put up scans.

Now we just need Slobo to make a return.
