Where on God's earth can I get some Malachite Ore? The only mining point with it I've found is at area 3, on the route to area 2.
I've found it in pretty much any mining spot on the three maps I have so far (Forest, Snow Mountain, and Desert). It's just really rare.
Where do I get some flame sacs that aren't from killing Rathalos, Rathian or Gravios? I have some sacs but I have no idea where I picked them up, and I know I didn't kill any of those aforementioned beasties.
I get Malachite all the time from the Jungle area. There is a well hidden mining spot in the green section of the map that seems to give me a crapton of them.

there's nothing in the game that shows the monster's health, right?
The only way to tell their health is simply look at their movements, if they're stumbling about wounded, you know you've only got a bit more to go. If they're making desperate attacks then they're getting about half way.
When do I get to upgrade my farm again? I am on the third tier of quests from the Elder and I can't buy a beehive or anything.

Fucking hell. I spent all evening putting together a Diablos armor set in hopes of having enough Wind Press to withstand Kushaladora's tornadoes. With gems, I'm up to 15. I need 20.
man you people are so far and I can't even beat piddly little Rathios
Flashbombs, traps, barrel bombs.. bring enough material to combine in the field. That usually does it for me with the big game.. Kush and Tigrex are still sons of bitches though. Just go all out.. spare no expense. Take herbs, blue mushrooms, honey too. Then you can make pots on the run. If you're gunning then a stack of claws and husks to make shitton of cluster ammo.

Fuck that. Just chop its tail off and pound away at its face until it dies. Oh, and roll out of the way every chance you get.

I should totally test out my Tigrex Tank against Kusha.
ok I have some birthday cash and a couple trade ins I wanna do that will definitely get me over the mark for getting a $30-40 game and something else that I want, so I really wanna get a new PSP game or DS game, but there aren't any DS games I want right now. And I have plenty of DS games anyways, like 12. So, my PSP would love some attention and I am really really intrigued by the idea of Monster Hunter, but I see the reviews are kinda all over the place. Can I get an honest opinion on the pro's and con's? and what it's all about? and how it plays?

Read the thread. In short, it's an awesome game with some controls that -might- take some getting used to. It's deep and engaging, if a bit hard at times.
I'm about 2 hours in, still stuck in the tutorials.
But I'd just like to tell you guys that it's honestly fucking awesome, and that a Xbox 360 version would just be too awesome, you know, since it's supposed to be a game you play with friends anyway. This game is making me wish for a full console, multiplayer experience so bad.
I'd kill for a console version. This game would do WONDERS with the graphical power of the 360 and dual analog sticks. Like the first one. Man, I'm sad now.

Yeah it's important to take supplies with you for big game. The ONLY reason the Congalala took me so long to beat was because I kept going into the mission and not taking a damn thing, just using the provided provisions.
Well what with Varega not appearing (where'd you go mang) last night I went with some pubbies to some HR1 stuff. Connection problems abound, but I managed to squeeze my first Khezu hunt in before the other guy had to leave. My Iron Katana kept bouncing, but at least now I know how to tackle him with relative safety :^:

Jesus man, I'm sorry. I got into a private game till about 3 AM EST. If you're up for something now, I don't have work today. You can AIM me (my nick is Varega Mathers)

Is cool, just wondered where you disappeared off to after declaring you were logging in. Working on killing Giadrome atm to finish my Giaprey Blade armor set :^:
On that note, does Guild quest completion affect both online and offline modes?
Well, if anyone feels up to some Xlink today, IM me, (Varega Mathers). I would love to get 3 other guys from PA and show these dragons how it's really done.
ehhh, lance is not a good weapon at all for fighting the crap guy in the dessert, he can attack from way too many positions and his legs get in the way of my side stepping. I'm thinking of making a sword and board for the more mobile fights since I don't wanna use a long sword. Any recommendations?

Jungle's pretty neat. I got 2 Kut ku scales from foraging under a bees nest (yeah...) and so managed to make a KK Tasset which has what appears to be a massive cod piece
Also, what the hell is that old man that pops out of nowhere? He's freaking me out.

The little old guys? Elders.. If you talk to em you can trade items with them. (and no you can't hurt 'em. I tried)

Airan, up for some more Xlink after I eat? I got this awesome gun suit.
No. You can do some Gathering Quests in the 2 Star Elder quest line, if you just want to farm a bit. You're given a map and a ticket home as supply items, and you can gather for as long as you like, until the time ends or you deliver the ticket to the box.
Great session tonight with Airan. We grouped up with 2 randoms, and took down Rathalos, Daora, and Lao. It was awesome. Everyone pitched in and did their jobs well. We need to see if we can get a group of us playing it together, because the other 2 guys were great, I bet it'd be even more fun with you guys.
Khezu is an annoying whore. He's not even that hard, it's just I keep making dumb mistakes and all his attacks are designed to make you wait just long enough in recovery time for him to send a killing series of sparks after you. Lost to him twice now, both times with him very near death. The last time he was like a couple of slashes away and I took a retarded risk and paid for it. :x
This can be a very frustrating game sometimes, haha.

I usually use a hvygun against Pleisioths. Explosive ammo has the same effect as sonic bombs. You can also hit them with shots while they're in the water. Makes things alot easier. Least for me anyway.
He'll dive under the water just before every stream attack. It'll either sweep side to side or extend in a straight line. You can use a sonic bomb when he emerges to disrupt his attack or run away at an angle to avoid it.
On land, he'll lower his head and extend his fins when he does his stream attack. Run left or right at an angle to avoid the stream then angle in for a couple head attacks. If you're not directly ahead of him but close to either side then he'll most likely use a "hip check" or a tail sweep.
Try to lull him into making his stream attacks. They're easier to dodge imo and it leaves his head exposed and at a perfect level for a couple whacks.
Also, I might be wrong but I believe he only does the hip check to his right. I'm probably wrong but I don't remember him checking left.
He's susceptible to shock and pitfall traps. Try to predict his path when he trys to escape and plant the traps there along with bombs.

Noodles is fantastic. He was one of the guys who set up the MHF1 forums where I learned an inordinate amount of stuff just from his explanations of the monsters interactions. It really does help out alot, I suggest you all give it a watch.

No sidestep, only a jump back.
Wrong. You can sidestep by tilting the joystick to the side and perssing X after an attack.
Awesome, I'll have to give it a shot. Thanks.
