Includes: PSP P2000, AC Adaptor, Battery, Headphones, and Star Wars Renegade Squadron.

I was just thinking about the new version because my O.G. has been suffering from the S.B.S. (sticky button syndrome). And with some ok games becoming $19.99 or less and some new ones looking better on the horizon it was time to choose.

So a little research yesterday left me with nothing. I checked Gamestop, EB, Fry's, ect. and nothing. No news, no promotion, no nothing. Only until this morning did good 'ol 1up have an update.

1up.com Impressions

I, myself, was thinking about the Star Wars edition but waiting another month and an all white version doesn't sound that appeasing. So I'm thinking the Entertainment version because I need another memory card and I LOVE Family Guy but I'm not keen on the silver version. So it looks like I'll stick with the new Piano Black and buy what I need.

Update 8-31:

Gamestops Impressions

and

Joystiq Impressions

Update 9-12

Still no Piano Black and No Explination Why

    Eh.

I'm quite the consumer whore, but even I don't see the point of getting a PSP lite at this particular moment in time. I'm still quite enthralled with the quality and style of my OG PSP.

So it loads games faster, dropped the love handles, and has better battery life. Is the screen brighter? I'm assuming no one has gotten one to look at the firmware and assess just how mean Sony has been to the homebrew scene?

What's with the batteries in the pictures? Do I remember wrong, but shouldn't the 2.0 have better battery life? Those pictures state 3.6V 1200mAh. My PSP came from a release Japanese Value Pack, and it had a 1800mAh battery with it.

Is this because the 2.0 is slimmer than the old one? Maybe it consumes less power but has about the same battery life as the old one?

I strangely find myself wanting one. I had the O.G. PSP on day 1, and 2 weeks later it was sold.

The fact that a 4GB memory stick duo is like $89 now is a plus. Back then I paid $129 for a 1GB

    ...anyway,
Video out may be the deciding factor here.

From what I understand is the screen is the same and the battery life is the same. Even though Japan got a longer battery life.

But what truly amazes me is that nobody seems to care. If I could go back into the PA archives and pull out the old DS Lite threads. Man those things went on forever.

I even order my DS Lite from Japan because I wanted it so bad. Plus I looked really cool at E3 2005, while standing in line for the Zelda preview, with the new DS Lite.

I'm planning on picking up that Entertainment pack at some point, although I think I'll wait 'til I've heard more reports on how people like the things vs. the old model.

The old model being slightly larger might actually be a plus in my book; might make it more comfortable to hold. My hands feel a little cramped after long DS sessions.

You're not doing a very good job of reading the forums then. Everywhere a PSP game is mentioned there are dozens of posts with people saying that they are waiting for the slim.

Of course there was a bit more fuss about the DS Lite, that is just the pro-nintendo slant that these forums have.

As said before, part of the reason people flipped out over the DS Lite was because the DS Fat was too damn big and decidedly unsexy. The Lite fixed that.

The new PSP has some good, needed new features, but it looks exactly the same. Because of that, I really doubt it'll catch the retail market on fire (since soccer moms can easily see how the Lite is different, but might not even realize all the new "hidden" stuff on the new PSP).

I think that the entertainment pack is the sweet spot, but I can't deny my longing for the white one with Darth on the back. For $199 I may just have to do this.

How hard is it to rip DVDs onto memory sticks and how much space do they take? This could be a great thing to take to dinner so my son doesn't jump all over the damned restaurant. Oh yeah, I'll be one of those parents.

Hell, the fact that you can play games on the TV makes it a sure fire purchase for me.

The reason why the DS lite was such a big deal is because it went from "Pretty fucking awful" to "hey that's not too bad"

The PSP redesign goes from "Eh that's pretty bad" to "Eh I guess that's okay".

Still won't stop me from picking it up though.

Yeah, I'll definitely be picking one of these up, since the PSP has finally gotten a decent backlog of stuff I'm interested in. I just need to recover my savings from my car repairs. And get a 360. And replace my dying PS2. And endure the Holiday of Awesome.

So, er, might be a while.

I never liked the OG DS at all. PSP type portability+ pretty fuckin ugly. But yeah you are right, it was alot better then the OG GBA. But then again that's not saying that much.

The SP however was god sex in sexgod form. Not too bad would be a really REALLY big understatement.

I am going to have SUCH a backlog for the PSP though when this hits. It's going to be SOO big.

I have been thinking recently that I need a portable gaming appliance for riding the bus... I get twitchy after work and tend to spend money unless I have something to read or do on the bus during the ride home.

When I saw Puzzle Quest, I knew that this was what I needed to get me through the bus rides. I'm a huge Bejewelled nut... so... it's Bejewelled with RPG elements? Sign me the fuck up.

So now I'm waiting for the slim to come out with the entertainment package thinger. My main problem with the PSP was that it didn't come with a memory card... what? I suppose I shouldn't expect more out of the PSP than I do out of the PS2... but... in-package memory card was the selling point for me on the slim.

It's just too bad this is coming out now. If it did a few months ago I would have jumped right on the bandwagon and bought one of these suckers.

Now I'm poor and the more I look at the game listings for the PSP, I find it's not really worth the $160. Not to me at least.

PSPs are region free for games. UMD Movies are another matter.

I too, am waiting for a Slim, as stated in the MHF2 thread (BUY IT!). Hopefully it shouldn't be too expensive once it hits UK shores. I always thought the PSP was a sexy sexy machine, but the quality of games, until now, had left me a little dissapointed.

And we almost have the whole truth up in here. Yes its more efficient (although running at 333mhz for some games like god of war will eat it pretty fast), so at 1200mAh, its get around the same as the old psp. However, you can stick the "old" psp batteries in the psp slim, giving it much laonger battery life. Think about what you could get if you put one of the extended (2200mAh?) in there.

Not from what sony was saying at "E3" this year. They were saying better battery life by using older batteries, and comparable performance using the newer ones. Ill see if i cant find the article i am think of.
