GAME ON - Shameless stolen info! ->
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is a Star Wars first-person shooter/third-person action computer game released in September 2003. It was developed by Raven Software and published, distributed and marketed by LucasArts in North America and by Activision in the rest of the world.
It was released for PC, MAC, and the XBOX
The game is powered by the same version of the id Tech 3 used in its predecessor, Jedi Outcast, containing modifications to the Quake code to give a third-person view and new lightsaber effects (Jedi Knight II had these 3rd person effects as well). Players have the ability to construct their own lightsaber by choosing the hilt style and blade color. After completing certain objectives, new saber styles become available including the ability to wield two independent sabers in a style known as Jar'Kai, or the double-bladed lightsaber.
In multi-player mode, one can play online with thousands of others.
Hundreds of mods are available, and new maps are constantly created to make the game more entertaining. Servers range from mp, sp, and base damages that can be manipulated to create imbalance. Saber block, hit sensitivity, and a variety of other features can change so one will not ever experience uniformity among multiplayer servers.

Personally I go straight for the multiplayer (I hear single is good to) where skill is based on timing, aim, use of powers and knowledge hard to master moves. I don't know of a PA clan or server - just trying to revitalize a classic. It's cheap to buy for everyone but mac people who pay 40 instead of 25. Sooooo yeah.

Dark Forces 2 for life!
I mean really
CUZ THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE MIDDLE AND IT'S GIVING ME A RASH
don't be hatin'
Also the best part about these games is doing a force-jump/force-pull-3 combo. It only works in SP, but dear god it's fun to launch stormtroopers into orbit.
please, do not defile the Jedi Knight name by calling it JK3.
if you must, call it Jedi Academy.
most of all, most of all
someone said true love was dead
but i'm bound to fall
bound to fall for you
oh what can i do
Thats right...
Jedi High School ftw!
...hhhmm wonder if mp still works for JK.
Works just fine for me.
In all honesty I played JK2 much more - if youd like this could be the JK2 and Academy thread... but when I recently went to buy a new copy of JK2 for pc or.. god help me.. mac it seems to be out of production. Although I kinda remember it to be cdkey free.. ahem... if anyone has their copy and can verify to servers existing, ill work a little harder to get a copy.
I loved this game.
I think perhaps it was riddled with "new-fan-service" what with dual sabers and whatnot but it wasn't a BAD game.
Same here
I thought the same thing. I came in thinking 'I hope he isn't refering to Jedi Academy.'
I need to find my Outcast disks. I never beat that came.

Jedi Academy with Movie Battles installed? Oh you better believe I'd participate in that kinda "Game On".
Jedi Knight, Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy...
Dark Forces isn't a Jedi Knight game, it's a Dark Forces game...
Or is there another one I'm missing?

Dark Forces
Dark Force 2: Jedi Knights
Jedi Knights 2: Jedi Outcast
Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
As you can clearly see, it is not a JK game because the 'Knight' isn't plural.
Actually, the title was Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2; As well Outcast being called Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast. None of the games had a plural "Knights" title.
But hey, If I had it my way it would of been...
Dark Forces 4: Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Outcast 2: Jedi Academy
(Sans Mysteries of the Sith)
i don't think they ever marketed it as a JK3, or anything like that.
most of all, most of all

Fine. But the plot was lame and it was written badly.
猿も木から落ちる
and then they add them, and they're stupid.
that's not what makes me angry - what makes me angry is they had to totally change the way you parry an attack, and damage values for single sabers and crap
it was PERFECT in JK:O. why'd they think, "oh, let's change it." argarhargh.
damn you, jedi academy.

I play this...
this was 'Star Wars Babies', right? When the kids go to jedi school? Yeah, i found it fun to play, as long as i didn't actually try to think or care about why.
Who was the dude that posted the tweaks he made to singleplayer for one of the JK games, that made it a hardcore limb-removal sim? If i could find my copy, i'd be all over doing that, as it sounded badass.
Holy Shit that looks baller - I can't wait.
:x oh you got me, you sneaky rat.
Oh yea.
I need to find my disks, I want to play Outcast.
Edit: Yay! I found my disks for Outcast!
And if anybody is interested, I have JK installed.
I want a good lightsaber game where your feet are actually anchored to the ground instead of magically gliding everywhere. Something like console action games like Devil May Cry. Something where you can't be running circles around your opponent while doing combos that wouldn't allow for such movements.

I've been saying this about KOTOR for a while now, that instead of how stupidly easy the game is now. That they actually implement some real fencing techniques to lightsaber fights.
I remember watching some video clip where Nick Gilliard, the guy who did all the swordfighting choreography for SW talking about how swordfighting is like high-speed chess. why can't developers implement a lite version of that in RPGs that involve swordfighting.
or is that just a case where too much realism = not fun
I just wish KOTOR was more difficult, really

That is very often the case... including here.
