Yikes. Maybe not. Mental note: Never, ever, ever leave IG alone for any length of time or they'll bunker in to such a degree where any assault will break like water against rock.

What race are you playing?
Necron. I exaggerated a bit, it wasn't that I wasn't able to take their defenses, it just that they seemed to have an absurdly high vehicle and unit cap and kept sending swarms and swarms of walkers and guardsmen after me. Not only that, but there had to have been no less than 15 heavy weapon units set up all along their territory.
I actually destroyed one of their bases, but it was all the while being assaulted by a never ending full force of guardsmen and various kinds of vehicles. And then my base starts getting attacked by a nearly equal amount of guardsmen and vehicles. Does the AI in campaign mode even have a unit/vehicle cap?

Yes, however you are often fighting 2 AIs (each with their own base) of the same race at once. When you go to attack a region it will tell you if they have one base or two in it's information. Also if they attack you, I think they always have two bases spawned.
Theres a couple good 4v4 maps that just rarely get played, like Demes Northland and Lost Hope.
Demes is like Morriah Coast in that one side does have an advantage. And no one likes Lost Hope because, I don't know, it's easy to rush if you're in the top left?

Oh, oh man, get this right, this one time, this one time right, I totally rushed a guy, and he was like, dead, he was so gone right, man. Yeah.

Ah. Yeah, that would explain it. I'm going to need to restart the level at this point and be aggressive with my honor guard instead of bolstering my own defenses.

Oh man, like, this one time, get this, I killed three enemy bases, right? I killed three enemy bases while I was the only player on my team, yeah? Some might, like, correctly, call it, you know, a 1v3 game. Like I won it, alone.

Also, send a phased wraith into the base and then deekstrike flayed ones and/or get your necron Lord the blanket stealth or phase ability he has to infiltrate the outer defenses. Maybe.

Harlequins aren't so much "awesome" as they are "still complete shit". Oh wow you have commander armor now if you could take 10 seconds of fire maybe you wouldn't be so fucking worthless.

Soooo cheap. I've taken to doing it when I get attacked and don't feel like taking the time for a normal battle to defend my area.

I think I have the infiltrated rangers tactic down, thanks.
I kid, but I hardly see how she's useless. Sure, she can't take fire - she's not exactly meant to. Slip her into the fray with a group of Wailing Banshees, and if the enemy even notices she's there among all the carnage he'll be focusing fire while the Banshees and whatever other forces lay into them. Sure, she can't take a hit, but she shouldn't exactly be leading the charge.
Yeah, a couple of times last weekend during 4v4 when the armies marched to one spot, I had no clue who was killing my mans or who I was choppin'. It's a good thing there's no friendly fire.

Well, I guess if people want to throw resources away, I'm not going to stop them. Maybe if the Harlequin was a squad, or, you know, had more than 1000 max HP (yes, that is after both upgrades) maybe it wouldn't be only good for attacking an army of only invisible snipers.
Oh and they do 0 ranged damage. To everything.

It was my first time playing DoW against people! The first couple of games were fine, but one of the last ones I played with you guys, the jungle one I think, was pretty crazy.

Hmmm... if you slip one in right after your main assault force and do the "dance of death" he (she?) is pretty good. Ranged units can get rid of a single on by focusing fire. Unfortunately once it is dancing there is no way in hell you can klick on him. So if it is the only target arround you may issue an auto-attack movto order. If other targets are around... it gets very complicated.
Well, if it's in the middle of an army and you get someone to attack her, she's dead anyway. But oh man, 20 seconds of 75 damage knockbacks? That's like 1300 damage spread out to 5 squads! How very not useful at all.
For what it's worth, Harlequins do have utterly ridiculous damage versus Commanders, so if you slip one or two in on a Force Commander or a Chaos Lord or something when they're distracted, it's just rape.
Also, Harlequins + Howling Banshees + Falcons = Good Times. Who needs to get shot when running up when you can jump right on in?

Oasis of Sharr maybe?
Nothing's wrong with Oasis of Sharr.
Everybody loves Oasis of Sharr.

Prepare to be ineffectually assaulted with a race I infrequently play.
I have decided that if the other team has tau, you will push for ASM or die. Stupid vespid. *mutter*
Because they don't. Ever. Never, fucking ever.

next time I'm online I'm going to try Eldar.
