Command & Conquer is set in the latter half of the 1990s and early 21st century, after a meteorite crash lands near the river Tiber in Italy. The impact introduces an alien substance to the world dubbed Tiberium, which becomes of unprecedented value due to its unique property of rapidly leaching nutrients from the surrounding soil and crystallizing them, emitting highly toxic gases in the process.
An ancient and quasi-religious secret society, known as the Brotherhood of Nod, proves to somehow have foreseen the potential this substance would come to represent, and reveals itself to have been investing in the development of technology to harvest the Tiberium crystals ahead of the world's established scientific communities. They soon control almost half of the known supply of what has become the most valuable commodity on the global trade markets, and use these assets to sustain a growing army of followers worldwide under the leadership of a charismatic figure, who is known only as Kane.
Following a series of relentless bombings across the world, culminating in the destruction of the fictional Grain Trade Center in Vienna, a wave of mass panic and fear sweeps the globe. These acts are ultimately attributed to Nod terrorists and their leader, Kane. The United Nations Security Council realizes that Nod is planning for world domination, and sanctions the G7-based Global Defense Initiative task force to intervene on its behalf, inadvertently setting a conflict in motion that will escalate into a modern world war.
[edit] GDI campaign
Commanding the Global Defense Initiative's troops, the player becomes instrumental in eliminating Nod's European forces. Under the command of General Mark Jamison Sheppard, the player completes a range of missions ranging from securing a beach to rescuing civilians and scientists to defending GDI bases from Nod assaults. The player will be taken to battlefields in various countries of Europe such as Germany, Poland, Austria, and more. Finally, the player besieges the Temple of Nod in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina where Kane has established his main base of operations.
[edit] Nod campaign
As a young recruit of the Brotherhood, the player initially performs tasks for the Brotherhood's second-in-command, Seth. After Seth plans an operation in America contrary to Kane's orders, Kane kills him and thereafter issues commands to the player directly. The player is entrusted with the mission of driving GDI forces out of Africa through the use of both conventional and unconventional warfare. In order to fully control the world's Tiberium supply and rule the planet, the player is ultimately assigned to gain control of GDI's ultimate weapon, the space based ion cannon and establish Kane's Temple of Nod. To this end, he is given the opportunity to use a nuclear missile against GDI in the final mission. The campaign ends with Nod controlling the whole African continent and ready to launch an assault on Europe. The conclusion of the campaign also allows the player to choose a historical monument for GDI's orbital Ion cannon (which has been hijacked) to destroy. Potential targets include the White House, Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower and the Brandenburg Gate.

What if the sack cloth was made of blonde hair? It wouldn't be so dark then.

I am actually in the process of fixing up an old 450mhz dell desktop to allow me to play all of my old favorites. God I miss going into Costco and knowing I could run everything without looking at the specs.
I always have trouble getting into RTS games because everyone's always like, "multiplayer for this is so awesome" and then I play it and I'm dead in two seconds because they send 800 tanks at me while I still only have like 3 buildings up and a couple units.
What I'm saying is, is there any actual STRATEGY involved in these? Or is it just like, "if you're playing the computer, just hold them off until you get a few units built up and if you're playing a human ZOMG TANKS NOW"?

I don't think you understand the concept of strategy if you ask this question

who the fuck cares?
it's motherfucking KANE
Kane had around 6 times more charisma in Tiberian Dawn, than both Sun and Wars.

It had that IPX crap, which still works if you install the right drivers.
I can't wait to hear the music, you know, the C&C thang
but that's not this game
Industrial is pretty awesome too. Tiberium Dawn and Red Alert had the best music of all the C&Cs so far
you sound so resigned to your fate
I use that for my alarm clock, fucking awesome way to start the day.

I used to set up playlists for my Frankish campaign on Rome: Total War Barbarian Invasion.
There are few sights more glorious than seeing 1500 soldiers marching to Hell March.
Also, I miss buying my games at Costco.
Yes.

the C&C gold gdi campaign crashes halfway through, and renegade gets about 3/4 of the way through and fails
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
