I get what they were trying to do with Fuuka, and I don't dislike it, but...It would have worked a bit better if it was less often. I mean. I can count to five.

At least Mitsuru made jokes when you analyzed things. "It's weak to light! How fitting!"

Damn Fuuka and her powers of observation. Yes, it's impressive that she can see what we're doing from the bottom of the tower, but... you know, I'm there, she doesn't need to tell me how many enemies there are or that one has gotten up from being knocked down. I SEE IT, FUUKA. THANKS.

    I so wanted the option
to have Mitsuru be my support staff when she's not in the party proper, but her divination just wasn't strong enough.

My dislike of Fuuka (and love of Mitsuru) is kinda strange for me, because I really dig pettite girls.
Though for some reason I thought those two were going to make out in Fuuka's room during a cutscene once.

I usually like characters like Fuuka and Chihiro also, but for some reason, the polar opposite characters won me over in P3.

Then again, I also sided with Charlone in Growlanser, so maybe I'm finally done with that phase.
(Of course, they strongly hinted she was best suited to Wein anyway.)

Oh, well nobody was mentioning Chihiro. I am in deep affection for Chihiro. Manga-loving skinny shy girl with glasses? Yes, please. My only regret is that she isn't a persona user... because you know her Justice persona would rock the house.

I'd take her over Ken any day of the week.

And it's not that I dislike Fuuka; in fact, I'm rather fond of her. I just can't stand her voice actress.

    Late November spoilers:
I actually thought she did a really good job in the scene with Junpei after Chidori dies, but that just makes everything else even worse.

Jumping on the 'I wanted to like Fuuka but god fuck her VA is horrible" bandwagon

While we're at it Chidori was just plain a terrible character with a terrible VA, and Ken is pretty bad but forgivable compared to Fuuka and Chidori

Natsuki I prefer to forget ever existed

    uhhh what else

oh I guess Koromaru's VA was pretty good :v

When I think of definitive canine VAs, I think Shadow Hearts.

And Chidori's one of my favorite characters, but that could just be from appearance.

    I really like her design.

    Her VA was... interesting.
    She was also Aigis' VA.

Fuuka's VA was actually alright... I think her direction was just terrible. They were going for a sort of nervious girl thing that just came. across. as. very. stilted. and. unpleasant. When they just let her talk conversationally, she was fine.

I actually kinda liked Chidori and thought she was going to join the team eventually (damn what the art book says).

Now that I think about it, my VA pet peeve for this game was Ken when he goes up a level. Sounds too much like Martin from The Simpsons!

    Okay guys.

I found Persona 2 at a local gaming store for fifty bucks. My birthday is Saturday. Should I get it for myself as a birthday present? What are the chances that it won't work on my later-model fatboy PS2?

I really did not like it.

The story is good enough, but everything moves at a snail's pace.

But if you really want it, it's by no means... bad. Just not nearly as good as P3.

    so I unlocked Monad.

    DEAR GOD!!!
Making tedious use of "Die for Me!", preemptive strikes and frequent running away, I got my core teammates from 50s to the 60s in like 4 fights. With the right card I'm getting damn near 10K xp! (without a card, it's around a couple thousand). I'm already 84. SOOOOOOO close to Lucifer (already have Satan).

P2 is a very, very difficult game. The story is great, but it's by far the toughest of the series in my opinion.

If you can get around that, it's worth it.

Difficulty never bothered me. I'm the kind of person who would bang his head against the optional bosses of DDS for hours even if I wasn't high enough level for them, just to see if I could figure out a way to do it.

I stopped after the metal twins fight, mostly because the game was movnig at a slow pace as per what was said above. I guess I hadn't found too much difficulty in it.

I liked P1 more than P2, but P3 is my favorite of the three by far, for what it's worth.

I enjoyed a lot of things about P1(mostly the battle system), but the dungeons and translation really slow it down. At least P2's dungeons don't require hours of trial and error.

I think I might've spent 10-15 hours on the final dungeon alone. P2 is pretty much gold the whole way through.

A little easier to get Persona(collect Tarot instead of getting specific spell cards, and negotiating's simpler), but still a lot of trial and error.

Isn't the metal trio at the final dungeon? That was my stopping point too. (In my original playthrough... I never did finish the replay.)
The Joker at the Smile Mall stopped me there.

    It's fate.

I don't think they were in the final dungeon, but it's close to the final dungeon I believe. I could be wrong, but I thought when I last checked gamefaqs on it, I was still a little ways from it.

They were in the dungeon 2 before the final one, if I recall right.
Once you take them down, you've got one more boss fight in their area, then (I believe) you go into some giant castle, then you go to this weird dimension place where you fight some doppelgangers and the final boss.

Would a PSX card even fit/work? (or I could just assume so, since you suggested it :) )

I dislike linking to other forums but

THIS thread on NeoGaf is worth a mention.

It seems that one of the voice talents for the US version of P3 listed a P3 expansion on his resume. In effect, he confirmed that FES is coming to the US. However, it was removed fairly quickly. People took screenshots, of course.

Obviously, it's just a rumor at this point in time. It may or may not be true. I'm just the messenger. Don't shoot the messenger.

Well, most VAs tend to be pretty on the ball. The guy probably forgot about NDAs and when he realized it, took it down.

Also, trecking through Monad I finally got from 84 to 88... then was promptly killed by those damn Void Giants before I exited.

They're talking about Maya, the demon that looks like genitalia. Like that'd be a problem in an SMT game.

It's one of the new Persona main gets.

I think the same demon was in Devil Summoner, more or less.

And here's the kicker: this means the PAL people could get FES and P3 at the same time.
