Was it bags filled with Reaper of the Dead (clickie insta C-Heal) before it was nerfed? Or is that a lore item - I can't remember. I used to do that quest all the time back in the day. Saved groups from wipes so many times.
i'm so freaking far behind, i bought the newest expansion with all the previous expansions included but after i bought it i found out i don't get access to any of the previous expansions until the new one comes out...SCREW THAT!! BOOOOO...
i can cancel my preorder but i don't really WANT TO!!! bleh..maybe i should though, and just get the all in one thing WITHOUT the newest expansion....i finally got an update on my issue i submitted and they said that they are short staffed because of all the socal fire stuff, so i doubt i'll be getting any kind of actual update on this until after the end of the week at best
So I'm actually debating whether or not I want to faction up in Cab so I can do the Greenmist quest. That's a ton of bone chips to turn in and a lot of goblins / sarnaks to kill.

I actually went to that tower last night and figured I'd grind there in LoIO for a little while. But I can't handle that solo as it's a 3 pull and a 4 pull. I could maybe pull off a 4 pull with my twink "catch up" gear, but if there's a lead explorer in there I can forget it. By time I get feign death at 30 and can split them they're green.
I need to duo with another shadowknight, but I think the other SKs in the guild are iksar :P
Pretty sure the explorer knives thing got nerfed. I exploited the heck out of that on my bard back in the day, but then I never really used Cabalis after that so it was a waste in the end.
Nope, the plan is they're meeting in PoK where groups will be formed and leaders will decide where to go. I guess finding areas to support 3-4 early 20s groups are tough to find. Short of raiding a target like the Shin Lord, but I don't know how great of exp that is for everyone.

I was using them in 2004 (or 2005) (a month before whenever WoW came out) and they worked still
I was looking at comments on allakhazam and it seemed like people were turning in 8-12 stacks of them through most of 2006 to get indifferent with the crusaders. I've got 4 stacks of knives so far but am still scowls to Trooper Vaurk (surprise, surprise). I figure I'll go for another 2-4 stacks and then see if I can get an illusion potion and do some turnins if I need to.
Enh, the drop rate isn't terrible. 1 in 4 maybe. They were great exp at 23/24 too. Mostly light blue / green at 25 though, so now it's more of a farm but if it makes me greenmist capable it's a lot better than handing in 8000 bone chips :P
Also got one of those explorer locket things, so I can't complain too much about that.
So, I remember getting an EQ trial disk in one of the gaming magazines I used to get. I remember trying it and enjoying it, but having an Anarchy Online account my parents wouldn't let me have 2 mmo accounts(and rightfully so) so I never got into it. I would however like to try it so... can anyone fill me in on some good starter advice?

I would suggest a soloable class for starting out. Druid, Beastlord, or Necromancer would be good choices.
"Evil" races will give you some faction issues in the original 3 continents, but it's not much of an issue with the easy travel through Plane of Knowledge these days. Some races have minor perqs, but overall you can just play whatever looks good to you. Racial exp penalties have been removed, so that's not an issue any more (I believe Halflings still have a 5% bonus).
I believe they are creating a bundle of all expansions with the release of the next one.
If you start on The Combine server you can join our little guild there, but it's a low population server so outside of "session" times you might have trouble getting groups.
I see you are in NH, so our play times might not match up (CA here), but if you want to find a good time I'd be willing to run through the tutorial zone with you.

Thanks for the insight, I actually work 2nd shift so I'm on later anyways, I'll update a little later with my name and I'll start on The Combine.

Once I actually get off this ridiculous overtime I might be able to help out. I've got a monk around level 12 in the Warrens right now so we could duo for some quick catching up. If you see Xahik online, shoot him a tell, otherwise I'll be on Einar working on my Cab faction and starting the Greenmist questline.
200 knives now but I'm still threateningly so I can't turn them in.
That last night when I stopped factioning I was considered threateningly to the Troopers. So log in the next night, kill 2 goblins, and bam, dubious. 2 more measly kills. I wish I would have checked after 1, just to see if I managed to stop that close to non-kos status.
Anyway, 220 knives later I'm amiable with the Crusaders.
I've got the first 4 tests finished now, so I've got a pretty decent one hander. The next one is easy enough to solo, but I want to get a couple more levels first. Either that or enlist a little help.
And! I think *hope* this is my last working Saturday. How great would that be. But then I'm out of town the weekend of Thanksgiving, so bleh.
Problem is, I'm still scowls at to the necros which is ultimately the faction I need to raise for the final leg of the quest (final 2 or 3 actually, since there's a necro standing right next to the on sk GM).
But we won't get to that point for a long long time assuming we do so, I'll do it later. We'll be coming up on questing Sol Ro armor soon. It'll be great to be decked out in Darkforge armor again.
I'm holding off at 28 on the slim chance I can actually make this saturday. I suspect it'll be one more working weekend though. In the meantime I've been camping the shadowknight in befallen for the bone bladed claymore. Killed the guy 3 times, hasn't dropped it yet.
On the plus side, I've got 2 gossamer robes, a thurmagist's robe, a dagger of marnek, a platinum ring, and 2 greater lightstones in the meantime. :P
Sorry to be a month late, but does anyone remember/know where to find that old EQ movie, maybe a Flash movie, about a warrior who learns the ways of the EQ from some woman? I remember at one point he was fighting with the Efreeti Lord and finally the Freeti was bored enough to give him the loot. He had all kinds of loot and sold them on EBay and stuff.
Was a long long time ago, and probably 3 hard drive crashes ago at least. Would like to see it again.
I played EQ on the classic server when Sony did that, but yeah, the locks were broken so fast that Sony did put in a minimum time which mostly let the hard core farm the bosses before the next expansion opened. I had brought a wizard for old times sake, quit around mid-Velious because Luclin wasnt much fun and once PoP began wizards were a dead class. But it was fun while it lasted.
Alot of the old world has been destroyed/revamped and Sony swears they dont have the old files to put Freeport back the way it used to be. Levelling was made way easier. I KNOW because Im not THAT good a player.
But even so, it was a great game, hard to resist the memories.

Nagafen 3manned, while not terribly impressive, it was a blast.
FV Server, twinked to the gills.
IIRC someone solo'd Naggy with a 52 monk using some sort of potions.
Vox down, now with more corpse in screenshot.
edit: Wow, bad compression. Horn, Haste belt, Pouch and Torn frost book are the drops.
I have a 12 druid I could help you out with, Beast!
two words
Explorer Knives.
FV faction sucks hehe.

No specific location for the session this week?

hope they didn't get nerfed too bad =/
The FotA guild seems to have settled out to a constant 3-ish groups every week. Not bad I guess.

but I needed to sit in Kurns for a laughing something or another anyways.
effing Cudgel.
I was going to just buy an illusion potion to start the handing in process, but iksar is practically the only one *not* for sale in the bazaar. :x

Next session's cap is level 28, btw.

If I remember correctly, the only faction knives don't raise on par with the rest is shaman faction
my memory may be fuzzy though =/
Otherwise I'm amiable+
