Are there any Penny Arcadian's that still play Chromehounds? I just dropped twenty dollars for the game, hoping there was a small dedicated group of people still playing but when I hopped on live... there was one game. My gamertag is I Regicid3 I if anybody still plays, I'd be really interested in giving this game a full run before Halo 3 takes over every soul.
O_o
:!!: Now I know that I have an I, surrounding my gamertag and I know that there's a number in place of the letter E but please don't think I'm an idiot. Oh, he he he. :!!:
I'll be adding you, Varega. How often do you play? How often do you see active games?
I'm not gonna lie, I go through phases. I have a crapload of games, and I'll play usually anything that I have if a GTer invites me. There's really not alot of active games on there anymore, since the game is pretty much 'done.' AFAIK, there's no new content being added or developed, so everythings really at a standstill.
Damn, I would, I would. I want a giant mech game that is excellent and have yet to actually find one to stick with, despite looking at the thread about them in at least two iterations. Unfortunately this is a bit of a catch-22. I'd love to play if 40 other people would also love to play.
I recently bought the game too and have yet to unwrap it. So if you wanted to noob it up together that would be cool. Maybe get an organized time for people to play, or just send me a random request when I'm on.
Chromehounds was fantastic but I really really yearned for a class limit in larger matches. Did they ever find a way to stop Pile Scout rushing? It was pretty much impossible to stop a well-organize team doing that.
I haven't played this in months, but I still fondly remember my favorite multiplayer match. We lost, but it was still awesome. :-)
My mech was slow and carried a commander module plus as much long-range artillery as I could fit on the chassis. I had also taken the time to create a "range finding helper". My 360 is connected to a PC monitor, so I can just reach out, slap a transparency over the screen, center it on my blip on the map, and it'll tell me how far away (+/- 50 units) any given target is. So I can sight in on something, start firing some artillery, and have I think five volleys in the air before the first round hits.
So we're moving around and scouting, and I'm playing "red dot secretary" for my team. The map is nothing but city, so there's buildings all over with a river down the middle. (I think.) Someone announces they can see which base the enemy is in. I roll down there until I'm just barely within range, and I start unloading rounds on their base from halfway across the map. My teammates tell me to keep it up -- my rounds all look like they're hitting!
After about the third volley hits the base the enemy starts heading straight for me, or straight for where the rounds appear to be coming from at least. My two teammates head them off and engage them in one-on-one combat. Now I'm taking some fire, and I can't keep my aim centered on their base any longer. So I decide to help out with the fight. I pick an enemy mech and start firing artillery shells at point blank range. The mech catches fire quickly and is toast. Then I realize -- oh crap, that was a friendly! The other mech then starts circling around me and firing, and I can't point my cannons at the enemy fast enough. I'm down.
Oops. X__X
I seem to recall having this idea of building a mech with four artillery cannons, one mounted so it points in each cardinal direction. I think I quit playing sometime after that, but that one battle was awesome. :-)

I too purchased the game recently for $20 and would like to try multiplayer. I'm not very good at the game, but I'd like to play with you guys anyway. Gamertag is in my sig.

(Guy at store complained at how the destroyed mechs would disappear.)
Plus, the fact that you could arrange a commander role with strategic fire weapons, too.
EDIT: This was only a month or two ago, and it kicked major ass.
What was the clan? Maybe they're still breathing?
Although I don't even own it anymore.
I remember the days fondly though.
Sorry, man I've totally forgotten.
